About this audiobook

They say you can't go home again. Jared Crowe never wanted to.

Home meant facing memories of abuse and neglect. Of dark closets and evil nightmares. Of his own relatives intent on killing him. But now his brother's kidnapping forces him to face those demons. Only this time, Jared isn't a scared little boy. He's a full-grown Special Forces operative bent on revenge.

As a little girl, Sparrow Pickney risked her life to free two abused boys. Now, as a grown woman, Sparrow needs to earn a place in her adopted family's business or be forced into a life of degradation. The chance to prove her family loyalty comes when she catches Jared spying on the compound and captures him.

When Jared sees his captor, he realizes she's the girl of his dreams and vows to rescue her from a life of poverty. What Jared doesn't know is that Sparrow may not be the savior he remembers . . . but the one responsible for abducting and torturing his brother. Jared is determined to find the truth, but that truth may be more than his heart can take.

I really liked all the action that took place in the mountains of Tennessee. Jared was definitely an alpha male with strong feelings for both revenge and the more tender feelings for both Sparrow and Hoyt. And Sparrow, for all her hillbilly ways, was a little fierce thing. She put up with a lot of crap and still came out on top. Getting ready to read the next book, David. Man, love these Mercy Men. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC.

Jared never understood why his aunt wanted him and his brother dead after their parents died. as an adult he decides to return to his childhood home to get answers and also get revenge – doing so led to a great deal of trouble for him, his brother and Sparrow, the woman who as a child saved them.Sparrow is a tiny but very strong woman when they meet again and she seems to fall for Jared VERY quickly. At times I felt what happened between the two of them was rather unbelievable BUT it is after all a romance novel and not a true story so liberties can be taken. There are issues of trust and communication that need to dealt with before the two can have a happily ever after. There was quite a bit of time both were tied up in knots…literally…some dastardly doings by others, action aplenty and a glimpse at some of the other men who will no doubt have stories of their own.Thank you to NetGalley for the copy of this book to read and review.
