About this audiobook

Navigating through youth and young adulthood isn't easy, and in Sorry Not Sorry, Naya Rivera shows us that we're not alone in the highs, lows, and in-betweens. Whether it's with love and dating, career and ambition, friends, or gossip, Naya inspires us to follow our own destiny and step over-or plod through-all the crap along the way. After her rise and fall from childhood stardom on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and Family Matters, barely eking her way through high school, a brief stint as a Hooters waitress, going through thick and thin with her mom/manager, and resurrecting her acting career as Santana Lopez on Glee, Naya emerged from these experiences with some key life lessons. Even with a successful career and a family that she loves more than anything else, Naya says, quot; There's still a thirteen-year-old girl inside of me making detailed lists of how I can improve, who's never sure of my own self-worth.quot; Sorry Not Sorry is for that thirteen-year-old in all of us.

The beginning is a little slow, but it's about back story. She surprised me in her level a maturity talking about Glee and her co-stars. She really could've gone in, but she didn't. Overall it was an entertaining, interesting listen.

Amazing! I listened to whole audiobook in one sitting, enjoying every last second of it, and relating to most of her sorry, not sorry list.

Rest In Peace Naya! Had to re-read this book now that your gone, so grateful that you have left this book for your fans and of course your son. This book isn’t a tell all, it’s a book about growing up and not giving up.

Was interested in reading due to her recent passing, glad I did. Cute and honest. Like a lot of bios, some chapters were out of order or repetitive but it's something easy and entertaining.

Endearing, heartfelt and downright raw! Naya you are/were such a badass. I’m so mad at myself for reading this after your passing. You are the true definition of a momma bear protecting her young. Risking your life to save your child’s life and you made the ultimate sacrifice. Rest in paradise you beautifully gorgeous angel♥️???

Naya’s memoir is honest and frank and simultaneously cautious. She’s smart enough to share and wise enough to know when to stop. It’s the perfect read for fans wishing to know her and cherish her life just a little bit longer, just a little bit more. Enjoyed listening and definitely recommend!

Wonderful book but sad to listen to because of her passing. She had so much love & promise. Her life was taken away way too soon. If you love Anaya, this book is a definite must read/listen.

I should have read this earlier. RIP Naya. We love you so much.

This book is realistic, witty, and motivating. I love how she wrote the good and bad stuff that happened to her. How she had learned and how she handled it.

A quick read. Naya is very unapologetically herself. It's fascinating, and maybe not surprising, how alike she is to her on screen persona of Santana on Glee. It was eerie hearing her talk about the future she had planned, knowing she would die tragically only four years later. RIP Naya.

I was actually thrilled by this book. I only know of Rivera by her role in Glee and honestly, I didn't watch Glee that much. I wasn't expecting a huge amount from a celebrity memoir but her honesty and thoughtfulness regarding difficult topics like money, race, and abortion blew me away. There was just enough of the "tell-all" vibe to satisfy the gossipy part of me but the real meat of her writing was clear-headed and captivating, incredibly insightful and felt true to her person. This book was great.

I purchased this book on Tuesday as part of my women-authored-memoir spree. So far I’ve read Mara Wilson’s and Abby Wambach’s; I have two book club books to read before I can dive into Diane Guerrero’s book. As evidenced by the photo I’ve included, this book was perfect as the fall equivalent of a good beach read – enjoy it with a cup of cocoa or tea, and be ready to go through it in one sitting.

Ms. Rivera is best known to most of us as Santana from Glee, but this is not a Glee memoir (and that is a good thing). The ten chapters each focus on different phases or components of her life, whether her early days acting as a preschooler, her financial troubles as a young woman, or her love life. Each chapter wraps up with a few bullet points under the ‘sorry’ banner, and a few under ‘not sorry.’

Some phrases or attitudes bummed me out (while at the end of her chapter on her anorexia she acknowledges therapy and/or medication might be helpful for some, earlier in the chapter she makes it seem as though anorexia is generally something one can get one’s self out of), but overall she’s an interesting storyteller who has some good advice to share with the world. I mostly enjoyed her writing, and some of the throw-away sentences are laugh-out-loud funny.

There are some stories in here that some people might consider ‘gossipy,’ but this is not an industry tell-all. This is someone who has led both an interesting and at times very relatable life telling her story. It’s definitely at least worth picking up from the library.
