      The book has many levels to it, heart sex, but more intriguing was the story behind the polyamorous relationship… I just hope that you continue to make audiobooks available as far as this series and others…

      It works. It's fun enough. If you like the newer series, this fits right in. I wasn't enthralled, but I still enjoyed it as a casual listen. The narrator did an okay job, but I almost felt a more feminine voice would have worked better. I don't know why. I received the audiobook free through LibraryThing Early Reviewers.

      I adored the original show that is based on this book series and, while it was initially jarring to read a different description of Max from the 90's show, it was quite lovely to read the characters thoughts during the action of the original story. The narrator of the audio reads well but the voices aren't very exciting or distinguishable. If you enjoy alien stories or watching the original series, I would recommend dipping into the inspiration.

      Won in the Early Reviewers give away. I think this is based on some TV show. Alien adventure set in a world of stereotypical teen angst. This was the audio version which was read competently. Thank goodness it was short. Okay story full of Alien teens with super powers, homecoming dances and parents who are pretty much shadows. And don't forget the evil authority figures trying to find the aliens. It passed the time on a roadtrip.

      This is the series that inspired the Roswell TV show. I've never watched the show so I didn't have any preconceived ideas about how the book would be. It was a pretty typical YA SciFi series book. There were aliens, romance, danger and lots of action. I didn't find it to be bad but it wasn't great either. The audio version was ok, the narrator was a little lacking in emotion but it was satisfactory. All in all this was an average read/listen but was not memorable or outstanding.

      I was awarded the audiobook of this book through LibraryThing's Early Reviewer's group. I did not know when I requested to be entered that it was related to the "Roswell" TV show. I'm not sure I would have put my request for it in if I had since I've never watched the show. Though from what I've read from other reviewers, the books and the show aren't all that similar anyway.Lots of High School angst. Liz and her best friend, Maria, work at a diner owned by Liz's father. Liz is shot during an altercation there, and Max heals her supposedly-fatal wound over the objection of his friend, Michael. Max decides to go against the pact he made with Michael and Isabelle and tell Liz the truth about who he is. Liz is shocked and uses Maria for a sounding board. Maria is fearful and, despite promising Liz she wouldn't tell anyone, tells their friend, Alex. Michael and Isabelle are worried Maria (or Liz) will tell others the secret. Maria fears that Isabelle will make good on her threat (to hurt Maria). Isabelle has a fear of the sheriff even before all this comes down, but this intensifies her fear. There's a lot of fear talking here but few of them are talking to each other. At least not until Max manages to form a connection between all 6 of them. There's also the usual romance angles. Max and Liz have been friends for years. Max loves Liz but doesn't tell her--I think because he doesn't want to lose her friendship if she doesn't feel the same way--and she doesn't really think of him that way until Max attempts to form a connection between the two to make her feel better about who he really is. Alex, spurred on by Isabelle's dreamwalking, decides to ask her out and gets rejected and dissed by her--yet he comes back for more. I couldn't decide if Michael's friendship with Isabelle is supposed to be a possible love triangle or just a good friendship. In the end (of this book), the 6 seem to have decided to be a team and to try to protect the secret against those who would hunt down Max, Michael, and Isabelle. But now it's Max who seems to be having second thoughts about getting what he wants in his relationship with Liz.I didn't quite grasp the outsider concept. Yes, Max, Isabelle, and Michael might feel a bit like outsiders since revealing themselves would result in danger and yes, Michael doesn't have the best foster family situations (especially compared to Max and Isabelle who seem to have loving adopted parents--which makes me wonder why they don't choose to take in Michael as well). And yes, I guess these 6 could now consider themselves outsiders since they all know a secret that they can't reveal, but I never got the sense of ostracizing that I would have expected if someone was a true outsider.Note: I received a free copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

      Maybe if I were a fan of the TV series, or at least watched an episode, I would have a better understanding of the appeal of this book, but I don't get it. Yes, I can see how the story of aliens living among us in Roswell, NM could be fun, but to combine that with a YA romance with all the angst of high school (what to wear to homecoming!?) made this a bit of a yawner.

      OK, I admit it. I only requested this one out of nostalgia because I loved the 90's TV show and the reboot is leaving me cold. I did not expect to like the original book as much as I did. I actually think it may be better then the show which should not surprise me (because I never like stage/TV/movie adaptations as much as the original book), and yet it does. Melinda Metz has some solid writing for 90's era teen fiction. I have to say that I rather enjoyed Kevin T. Collins' reading too which only added to the enjoyment. Overall, I'm very glad that I requested this audio book.

      This book was cute if you like children’s/young adult literature, especially if you liked the TV series that was based off the books. This first book in the series is very similar to the first few episodes of the TV series, though I think the two series will diverge from here. This book is most appropriate for young teenaged girls because it is heavy on the romance and light on the science fiction. I read the Nookbook version, which was riddled with horrible typos. It looked like it was transcribed from a hand-written document by someone who doesn’t understand English. My guess is that all ebook versions are like this, but I don’t know.
