About this audiobook

A STANDALONE NOVEL that does NOT need to be read in conjunction with any other book. From New York Times bestselling author, Penelope Ward, comes a friends-to-lovers story with sexy new characters. After getting dumped, the last thing I needed was to move next door to someone who reminded me of my ex-boyfriend, Elec. Damien was a hotter version of my ex. The neighbor I’d dubbed “Angry Artist” also had two massive dogs that kept me up with their barking. He wanted nothing to do with me. Or so I thought until one night I heard laughter coming through an apparent hole in my bedroom wall. Damien had been listening to all of my phone sessions with my therapist. The sexy artist next door now knew all of my deepest secrets and insecurities. We got to talking. He set me straight with tips to get over my breakup. He became a good friend, but Damien made it clear that he couldn’t be anything more. Problem was, I was falling hard for him anyway. And as much as he pushed me away, I knew he felt the same…because his heartbeat didn’t lie. I thought my heart had been broken by Elec, but it was alive and beating harder than ever for Damien. I just hoped he wouldn’t shatter it for good. Author's note – Neighbor Dearest is a full-length standalone novel. Due to strong language and sexual content, this book is not intended for readers under the age of 18.

Chelsea and Damian- Love them. It's funny how if I only read this book I would have hated her ex. But I loved Gretta and Elec. I want to read more about Tyler and then Jade.

Penelope Ward, you big softy, you tricked me into reading this emotional, deliciously spicy and heartwarming book with a cover like this!! Seriously, this book has all the feels. I’m not even sure how she squeezed them all in here, but she did! It reads a bit like a condensed three book series. So much happens.

It begins with a woman. And man with supersonic hearing. She seems to have a tendency to cause accidents, like accidentally setting her apartment on fire, and he is her neighbour, her landlord, and is hot. She has a heart of mushy gold, though has been hurt before, and he is fairly closed off, likes to make spraypaint art and pizza, and has a big ol’ secret. Hilarity, swooning, irritation and spice ensue. Also there are a lot of references to God, and I’m only mentioning it because it took me by surprise, though not in a negative way. It was just unexpected in a book I most definitely chose because of its cover. ? But it does almost read like a fated mates.

I listened to the audiobook, and the narrator, Samantha Cook, is one of my favourites. She really brings life to these characters. I think listening also helped with the fast pace of the story. SO MUCH HAPPENS.

This is a great book for if you are travelling All the loose ends are neatly tied up, and there’s an epilogue told from HIS POV!

Chelsea started off as a needy doormat and Damien started off as a confused unavailable guy but I love that they worked it all out. The story became better and better as it went on had to change both my rating and my initial opinion. 4.6 Stars?

Dearest Neighbor is a great read! It’s a slow burn at first; but once the H and h become a couple, it’s steamy. I particularly liked how the story extended beyond coupledom and went on to address other issues in their story thoroughly…not with just a quick epilogue. Narration was great!

Loved the way they met for the first time!
friends- lovers I couldn't asked for more, Chelsea just moved to a new apartment after being heartbroken by her ex, and for her luck the next door neighbor looks just like him but hotter tho he has dog very loud dogs that won't let her sleep they after she goes to him to complain they end up having this instant connection and become friends though she is catching feelings for him, he lets her know they couldn't be more than friends, but what he doesn't know is that they are up for a good ride

Now let's talk about Damien can there be a better man than this one COME ON! He is considered, funny, talented HE MAKE PIZZA FROM SCRATCH!
Just knowing that I was already in love haha
I love how their story developed!
How about My lil Perv Chelsea she was something else, what I love the most about her was how she confronted the situation took it into her hands and did what was best for her in that moment!!

Now I gotta tell you about Damian brother's Tyler since the moment I heard about him I wanted his story so I'm jump into that one next

Excellent read had a lil of everything made me LOL, cry and the most important of all made me smile like an idiot.

Have read some of her other books, loved those books this one is a bit plain and predictable, gives the vibe that it's one of her early writes should have ended around chapter 18 dragging it on to 26 made it a bit boring and predictable, some details counteract the storyline. Three weeks time but yet events that would be important and noted in the book planned for a week from the chapter are either put off or skipped and played out as if they didn't happen until later making them seem like plan makers that bail and don't stick to their time frame

I wasn't sure how I would feel about this book at first. No real spoiler but I caught on why there was so much denial with Damien at the beginning. Not because it was not written well, because it was, it was written so well that the signs and behavior was so spot on that I saw it immediately. Well written well told love story that will capture your heart .

Ahh god this warmed my heart so much!
Damien so loving and caring and Chelsea so sweet and innocent!
It hit home for me as a friend of mine died at 21 of the same condition in his sleep. It was devastating. It was lovely to listen to a story that ultimately turned out positive and heartwarming. For the reviews stating the dogs were mentioned to much aren’t animal lovers and I felt they added to the overall personality strengths of Damien.
I loved this book truly. I listened to it in one day.
The author did a phenomenal job, it would of been nice on the epilogue if they had drafted in a male narrator but that’s not the authors fault. I couldn’t fault the book at all. Well done ❤️

Wow. This book was so good. I love the story of this great guy caring deeply for this darling girl and becoming a friend to her. I love the way the characters were developed and I could feel all of the emotion like it was my own. Vi Keeland has fast become a serious favorite of mine! I can’t think of a single book by her that I didn’t 100% LOVE! I highly recommend this beautiful story about overcoming fears and giving life and love a real chance despite all of the fears. Beautiful.

Chelsea and Damien have a well-written friends to lovers romance with the perfect combination of angst and jealousy. Chelsea is the ex of Alec from Step-Brother Dearest and I enjoyed Neighbor Dearest more so than Step-Brother Dearest. You can really tell that Penelope Ward's writing has progressed and the plot flows a lot easier.

I really enjoyed the concept of Damien being the landlord and creating the close proximity element to their relationship. The way Chelsea found out just had me laughing out loud and there were numerous scenes where I laughed at Chelsea's entertainment as she seemed to have a few moments. Damien has reasons as to why they cannot be together once their friendship starts to progress but as much as he tries to enforce his own rules, he's not very good at them at all.

The ending seemed to be very rushed in the last 20% and everything seemed to get thrown in instead of having a long epilogue. Alec also seemed to pop up during scenes but only stayed or was mentioned for a couple of sentences. It just seemed too fleeting and could have been more in-depth.

It was a super easy and steamy read and I will always pick up a Penelope Ward but this was missing just a little bit of somethings.

I felt this was a bit long, and drawn out. The characters were well written though.

And omg totally crushing on the Hero! He is so protective and possessive but kind and sweet at the same time! Love it! A must read!
