About this audiobook

The first day of Mia's new life in Grayslake, Georgia, is not going as planned.

The house her grandfather left her looks ready to crumble, boxes cover every inch of the floor and-oh-there's a bear cub in her pantry. It gets worse when the cub's uncle comes by and busts out his fur and claws while on her front porch. Then it gets loads better because suddenly there's a hot hunk of badge-wearing werebear on her lawn ready to rescue her. Yum. Of course, he has to ruin things by trying to take the cub out of her hands. Ha! The cub is hers . . . No ifs, ands, or bears about it.

Werebear Ty can't seem to get the curvaceous, delectable Mia to understand that, even if she is one-quarter werebear, she isn't keeping the cub. Ty is the Grayslake Itan, the clan's leader, and the little werebear is going home with him . . . Unless it isn't. It's her smile. If she'd stop smiling and being gorgeous, his inner-bear would support him and Ty would get his way. But the beast wants to make their woman happy, so it's perfectly content to let her do as she pleases. Then things change. Threats arise, danger comes close, and Ty demands she return to his den. No ifs, ands, or mates about that.

Story moved way to slow, characters were inconsistent. Has potential but needs editing and some story corrections.

After some positive reviews I had high hopes for this, but it was a big disappointment. It started out cute with a bear cub but it ended with lots of violence (it's a very violent society), most of it amounting to 'honor killings'. Sorry, but I can't appreciate any of this, let alone find it romantic.
And before that the 'fated mate' theme became annoyingly repetitive. It felt like the hero needs/wants/lusts after the heroine about twice every page. There's virtually no relationship or character development.
I certainly won't read anything by this author again, and in future I'll be more careful in picking out shifter books.

    Sweet and Sassy

I love how protective Mia is about a little cub from the very first time she saw him. She and Ty together are great, even when he's being stupid.

shifters, abandonment-issues, abduction, action-adventure, law-enforcement, relationships, snarky, humor, includes-erotica, romance There's a baby bear in her pantry, she wants to protect him, and he attaches himself to her. The drunk at the door turns out to be his guardian, and the lawman at the curb is really hot. She comes from a were bear family, and this is a were town. The story continues with all kinds of mischief and mayhem, and is so well written that I just couldn't put it down. The characters are well explored and the action is clearly depicted, making for a great read!

The first book in the new erotic shapeshifter series Grayslake is a riveting read that keeps the readers on their toes. When Mia finds a werecub in the pantry of her grandfather’s home, she’s completely taken with the little guy and she decides that the cub is hers and no one not even a hot hunk of werebear with a badge is going to take him away from her… no ifs, and or bears about it. As the Grayslake Itan, Ty needs to take the cub with him to the clan home, he needs to make her understand and put his foot down, but his inner bear wants to keep her happy. Then threats arise and danger comes close, so what’s a werebear to do, he demands that she and the cub return to the den. No ifs, ands or mates about that. This fast paced and smooth flowing plot keeps the reader on the edge of their seat with suspense, humor, and romance. The author paints every scene with vibrant life like images that make the reader feel as if they are part of the story and the strong compelling characters are easily related to and leave the reader wanting to know more. The chemistry between Ty and Mia explodes from the pages and leaves the reader singed. Ty is an alpha bear with a very sexy protective side that makes the reader just wants to sigh even as they want to hit up the side head. Mia is a very strong female character that can easily handle Ty and all his brothers to as she puts them in their place with some snarky attitude and they better look out when she gets mad. I really enjoyed this very intriguing and entertaining shapeshifter romance that totally captured my imagination and enthralled me with the charismatic characters. I am really looking forward to reading the next book to see where this fascinating world takes us, no ifs, ands or bears about it.
