Irene, a journalist, investigates City Hall shenanigans after a "bum", who accosts her, turns out to be her former Statistics TA. Shenanigans involve an ex-lover, so she receives the support of several other women who are also his ex-lovers.Interesting, good action, nothing profound. Some shortcomings: from being just a former Teaching Assistant for one of her classes, Lucas morphs into being an old friend. The novelty of pagers and the use of typewriters for Lucas' thesis date this. And with all their verbal sparring I can't figure out why she & her husband are still married (perhaps if I had read earlier books in the series this would be clearer).

Remember Me, Irene is the fourth entry into Jan Burkes’ Irene Kelly series, and continues the story of journalist Irene Kelly and her police detective husband, Frank Harriman. To my mind, not one of the strongest entries in the series, I nevertheless enjoy the characters and will continue reading these books.Irene ignores advances made by a drunken, homeless man, but later upon reflection she realizes he was actually a former teacher that she admired. Plans to help him clear his reputation don’t get very far before he is found murdered. With evidence mounting that he might have been blackmailing some very prominent people, Irene must dig deep into the past to put the pieces together. Meanwhile, more people are coming into harm’s way. Irene comes across as a sharp, intelligent, capable heroine, I enjoy reading about her interesting career and her solid, grounded relationship with her husband. Jan Burke is a good writer, and keeps the story moving along at a crisp pace. As I said above, not one of my favourites but still a solid entry in this enjoyable series.
