About this audiobook

Tricia Miles, mystery bookstore owner and amateur sleuth, is in for a surprise when her ne'er-do-well father, John, comes to town-and promptly becomes a prime suspect in the murder of a woman with her own scandalous past. Even Tricia's faith in the old man is shaken when the Stoneham police break the news that her father is a known con man who has done jail time.

But what about bestselling thriller author Steven Richardson? Is it a coincidence that he arrived for a book signing just before the crime or that the victim was found with a signed copy of his latest bestseller?

From merlot to murder, Tricia is determined to clear the family name before another body shows up and ruins Stoneham's first-and highly anticipated-wine and jazz festival.

After a book-signing at the Haven’t Got a Clue mystery bookstore in Booktown, New Hampshire, one of the attendees is murdered and John Miles, the ne’er do well father our two heroines, is at the top of the suspect list. Dozens of people saw the victim strike him at the event. He’s shown up in town – where he should be ashamed to shows his face – and announces that he and our “girls'" mother are splitting up. Seeing he has no money to speak of, he’s counting on Angelica and Tricia to keep him housed and fed.Tricia is pretty much homeless herself, with a massive renovation going on at her house “over the store.” The noise and dirt are keeping customers away in droves, too. Never fear, she has her two wonderful employees, Pixie Poe and Mr. Everett to keep the store open, however horrible sales are. That’s good because Tricia, as usual, needs time to do some snooping of her own, hoping she can keep her dad out of the slammer. She and her sister also need to get their parents back together so their mom – with whom both girls have a love-hate relationship (mostly hate) -- can take Dad home with her. This is a lovely series in which the mystery usually takes a back seat to everything else. The setting and characters I love but, in this book anyway, the ending left me hanging. Even at the end, I was thinking, “What just happened?”

Well this was a let down, I usually enjoy this series when it sticks to the book stores or the mystery butI really didn't like all the FAMILY DRAMA, it felt like 50% of this book was spent on that, very little time spent in the book stores and hardly no time at all on the actual mystery.

This is a nice mystery. That’s about it. The mystery was well developed, but the main characters are a bit annoying.

Tricia and Angelica are always busy, but when their ne’er-do-well dad shows up in town, their activity level goes up tenfold. Tricia’s abode is undergoing renovations and is not inhabitable, so she is staying at one of her sister’s bungalows. But she has to give that up for her father, because he has no place to live having recently separated from their mother. On top of all this family turmoil, the sisters literally stumble across a dead body. So now they have several goals to accomplish: stop Dad from pilfering from friends, get their parents back together, find the murderer, stay on top of their own business operations, and try not to get in trouble themselves. It’s more than a full time job for them, but reading about it is great fun and entertainment for us. This series is delightful and the characters are endearing, and when the plot is this good, it all comes together in a wonderful cozy mystery.

During an author’s book signing, Tricia’s father arrives and gets into a discussion with a customer and gets his face slapped. Later that customer is found murdered by Tricia while walking her sister’s dog. Tricia and Angelica insert themselves into the investigation to prove their father’s innocence and to help repair their parents’ marriage. My only complaint with this book is Tricia’s apartment over the bookstore is under renovation and too much of the book was spent whining about the noise coming from overhead.
