About this audiobook
Discover Captain Phasma's mysterious history in this "Journey to Star Wars: The Last Jedi" novel.
One of the most cunning and merciless officers of the First Order, Captain Phasma commands the favor of her superiors, the respect of her peers, and the terror of her enemies. But for all her renown, Phasma remains as virtually unknown as the impassive expression on her gleaming chrome helmet. Now, an adversary is bent on unearthing her mysterious origins—and exposing a secret she guards as zealously and ruthlessly as she serves her masters.
Deep inside the Battlecruiser Absolution, a captured Resistance spy endures brutal interrogation at the hands of a crimson-armored stormtrooper—Cardinal. But the information he desires has nothing to do with the Resistance or its covert operations against the First Order.
What the mysterious stormtrooper wants is Phasma's past—and with it whatever long-buried scandal, treachery, or private demons he can wield against the hated rival who threatens his own power and privilege in the ranks of the First Order. His prisoner has what Cardinal so desperately seeks, but she won't surrender it easily. As she wages a painstaking war of wills with her captor, bargaining for her life in exchange for every precious revelation, the spellbinding chronicle of the inscrutable Phasma unfolds. But this knowledge may prove more than just dangerous once Cardinal possesses it—and once his adversary unleashes the full measure of her fury.

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Great backstory for one of my favorites from the new stories. The sound effects take a few chapters to get used to, but end up enhancing the story.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Read this right after Darth Plagueis, with also reading other SW books and watching films. Absolutely loved it, as it connects greatly to how Phasma is formed within the lore. The way it was written gave a nice touch to it. Running from present to past, back into the present.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5It is just as enjoyable as Darth Plagueis. Couldn't stop ever since picking it up.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I loved the perspective the book was from. Answers questions you've asked since the first time seeing pharmacy in the movie.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This was a fun and clever backstory to our favorite chrome-plated stormtrooper. Want insight into the likely reason Phasma lowered the shields, helping the Resistance, on Starkiller base in The Force Awakins? This book offers tells you enough about her personality and behaviors to tell you why. Dawson also gives us a glimpse into the First Order, into their methods and indoctrinated stormtrooper culture. Was the Empire all bad and might the the First Order be a needed evolution? Or does the Resistance have things right for galactic citizens? Hear things from Cardinal's perspective and that of the Resistance spy, and draw your conclusions. This book will leave you hunger for more Phasma and what she's up to in The Last Jedi.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Pretty good story about Phasma's origin. I was hoping Cardinal had a better encounter with Phasma, but it's a good reading.
