About this audiobook
As an artist, Callie Quinn relies on inspiration to guide her wandering soul. This summer she accepts a short-term muralist job in her sister’s charming town to spend some much-needed time with her family. After meeting her nephew’s friend, Brandon, she’s eager to draw out his untapped artistic talents—however, it’s the boy’s straitlaced single father who could use a little color in his life.
Davis Carter may be the town’s favorite animal whisperer, but his experience is limited when it comes to understanding his preteen’s rebellious behavior. Desperate for a breakthrough, he follows the lead of a free spirit who claims to know the way into his son’s closed-off world. Soon, Davis isn’t the only one caught up in the hope of a new beginning.
Just as Callie considers trading her unattached existence for a life rich with promise and permanence, an unexpected visit from the past threatens to send her packing once again. Davis and Callie must learn to surrender their fears so they can find a love that will outlast the summer.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Perfect!!! My kind of story. Full of love & most especially faith & trust in God!!!
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5This was a fun, quirky romance with more meat to it. Sometimes our life circumstances change us more than we realize and we end up feeding that which we wanted so hard to escape. I particularly enjoyed the last half of the book.
The reference to bacon gave me a good chuckle as well.
Unrelated to the author...... I listed to the audio book and therein were some issues. The male and female parts were distinctly different. They just have been recorded in different places with different audio engineers. The female voice was perfect for the part of Callie, but it sounded like she was speaking in a bare room or a tube. That wasn’t her fault but the production. There were moments when I heard it in the male voice as well. It would sound different suddenly and then go back to how it was for most of the book. The voice of Shep was just way over the top and sounded like a comedic routine. His voices for female characters were too forced and didn’t work.1 person found this helpful
