      I enjoy this series but I like the historical aspects the best. The technology and weapons are a little bit above my comprehension sometimes but I do like the characters too. I like the action and adventure scenes but they seem to go on too long and I tend to get bored because of my lack of understanding the technology. I will, however, continue reading the rest of the books and I enjoy the group of people I read them with as the discussions we have are very interesting.

      This is book number twelve in the series. I noted Cussler has a different co-author, Boyd Morrison, for this book. As always, Cussler's books seem to wander somewhat, but with continual action. We see a couple of new characters to replace one bumped off during book #11. Of course, the villain lasts until the very end/

      Typhoon fury by Clive Cussler and Boyd MorrisonStarts out in 1945, Philippines island and they must invade the fortress and gain entrance before others do... With the help of Japanese captain they realize Hiroshima could be the next target.Present day in Vietnam-they take the one with the knowledge of the memory stick with them so he can't notify his buddies.Back in Phillipines and the order to go full power through the storm...but escort ships have fired on them, killing some.Like hearing of the chip not detectable by wands implanted into the thigh and of the memory flash that could erase itself if tampered with.Love hearing of the enhancements to the Oregon=so high tech.Amazing how all the different stories all lead into one...So much action, adventure, mystery and war things in one. Would read more from this author as everything is so well described.I received this book from National Library Service for my BARD (Braille Audio Reading Device).

      A powerful drug left over from the Second World War, but lost, supposedly, because of enemy action, becomes the centre of interest for Juan cabrillo and his adversaries. Most of the action takes place in the Far East, and there is plenty of it. Throw in some long lost stolen paintings and an impetuous lady art historian and you have all the makings for disaster as well as excitement.As usual Cabrillo does not disappoint - just what else can be hidden in a prosthetic leg? Boyd Morrison may not quite be Jack Du Brul, but the story is well managed and as inventive as anything else that Cussler has come up with. There are some really nasty, and strong, opponents throughout the story, opponents that will stop at nothing to achieve their ends. The prospect of this drug being unleashed upon the world is really not worth contemplating, and the Oregon and her crew are dedicated to preventing that happening.I would really like to see a mock up of the ship - superficially it would be disgusting to behold (and smell!) but is obviously a veritable Tardis inside - truly amazing.A darned good read, but one that hooks you and won't let go. If you want creative action, then here it is.

      Clive Cussler is the original master of the non-stop action thriller, and his co-authors enable him to juggle many series simultaneously. I've always enjoyed the Oregon Files series with Juan Cabrillo and his crew. Because Juan is essentially a mercenary, no excuse needs to be made for how he gets into particular situations; he does it for money. But he still has a conscience and a love for humanity, and this is what keeps his stories interesting.As is standard for all of Cussler's books -- regardless of the series -- the book starts with an historical backdrop, setting the stage for what is to come. I've always loved this about Cussler's books; the tactic makes the story much more believable. In "Typhoon Fury," it's not difficult to imagine that the Japanese might have developed a drug during World War II to create super soldiers.In this 12th installment of the Oregon Files, Juan finds himself up against some pretty nasty characters who have more than one deadly trick up their sleeves. Juan usually outmatches his enemies fairly soundly, thanks to his fantastically outfitted ship and the wonders of the Magic Shop on board. In "Typhoon Fury" he encounters an enemy who sees through the Oregon's disguise and manages to get one step ahead of him on occasion.Multiple angles and plot lines involving the recovery of stolen paintings, a South African mercernary, and underwater drone weapons almost -- almost -- make for a chaotic confluence of characters and plots, but somehow Cussler and co-author Boyd Morrison pull it together and it all shakes out.This was a highly entertaining book -- not quite to the point where I couldn't put it down, but I certainly looked forward to picking it up every night at bedtime.

      Lots of moving parts in his Oregon Files thriller. Super soldiers, stolen masterpieces and lots of ties to WW2 in the Philipines are the grist for Cussler's fine tuned mill. As always, interesting characters, even the bad guys, competing for dominance over a segment of the world. A good, fast-paced storyline as is the norm for this lively series.

      Typhoon Fury is a book that from the first page through the last holds the reader's attention. It is a fast action adventure starting with some research/chemists in WWII through today's hungry insurgents and despicable, power hungry Communist revolutionaries with a plan for world domination. Our heroes on the Oregon accidently fell into a horrific battle. The book in this review gets five stars. It is highly recommended for a reader who enjoys an adventure.
