I got hooked on this whole series. I enjoyed the mystery and investigative parts of the story. Gwen can be a bit much sometimes but I like her calmer partner Sam. I think what really keeps me hooked is the hope that this family will finally get some peace.

Is anyone else annoyed with whiny Connor/Brady? He does nothing but make bad decisions the entire time. I liked the book but was silently cursing every “Connor” chapter. The book is full of strong characters so maybe they needed a wussy frail character, but I have a real distaste for Connor. Get yourself together boy!

Intense...one word sums up Killman Creek! Gwen’s serial killer ex-husband has escaped prison and she and her children are in danger and in hiding once again. Gwen decides to go on the hunt instead and finds a dark, sick world in the dark web...of which her husband is just one part. When everyone around her begins to doubt her, Gwen is prepared to sacrifice all to defeat her husband once and for all. A great conclusion to the Stilhouse Lake story.

The story begun in STILLHOUSE LAKE comes to its heart-pounding conclusion in this book. Gwen has survived the trap set by her serial killer ex-husband but the safety that she found for herself and her children has been destroyed. She is no longer the meek, ignorant young wife who was unaware of her husband's crimes. But is she strong enough to finally take down the man who is haunting her life and threatening her children?Gwen is going hunting for her ex-husband. Assisting her her is Sam Cade, who sister was her husband's final victim. He, too, has a strong motive to find and destroy Melvin Royal. Sam and Gwen are starting a romance but it isn't easy because Sam is just beginning to trust the woman he thought was her husband's accomplice. The power of social media is a strong presence in this book. Gwen and her kids are targets of internet trolls and have been since her husband's crimes were discovered. Part of the story has Sam and Gwen trying to track down Absalom who first seemed to help Gwen when she was trying to start a new life but who was revealed as a minion of her ex-husband. Now Gwen and Sam learn that Absalom's internet harassment is only the tip of iceberg that hides child porn, blackmail, and snuff films in its depths. This story is told from four points of view. Gwen, Sam, Lanny, and Connor all tell the story in their own chapters. Lanny and Connor both have interesting points of view. Lanny knows that her father is a murderer but she still remembers times when he was just "dad." Connor is even more conflicted. He was only seven when his father's crimes were revealed. He has even stronger memories of good times with his father. He now has a cellphone that he can use to contact his father which he has to keep secret from his mother and Lanny. He also knows that his father is a murderer but is still looking for a way to connect with his father. This was an excellent thriller packed with action and dangerous situations. I was especially moved when videos surfaced that showed Gwen complicit in Melvin's crimes and which her children and Sam believed. Gwen was even more isolated after they were revealed and even more determined to kill Melvin and protect her children.Read STILLHOUSE LAKE first and then read this excellent conclusion to the story.

Excellent! This series has quickly become one of my favorites!

In Book #2, the story is told from the perspective of 4 of the main characters. I loved seeing into the minds of all of them. It was an interesting tool that I hope continues with Book #3... Which I will probably start today.

I have come to love Rachel Caine!! And this is an excellent example of her amazingness❤️? the fact that this could be reality is very creepy...the only thing taking that star is how annoyingly stupid Connor is after all that. I can understand though, sometimes your mind plays tricks but still, no.

It's so intense and mad, the tension of hunt and being hunted! Crazy things happening around us and we don't know that something like this happens! Sad, mad and scary.
Can't wait to start 3 book!

What a terrible, terrible book. To fill in for its lack of cleverness, it substitutes with fowl language, violence, bad ideology of twisted revenge, and depressing character portraits. The only reason I listened to the end is that I like to finish what I started. Don't waste your time.

Killman Creek by Rachel CaineBook 2 in the Stillhouse Lake series. Thriller. Best to read Stillhouse Lake first. Gwen moved with her children to Stillhouse Lake hoping to get away from the notoriety of her serial killer ex husband. When he escaped from prison, all sense of safety is gone and the family is in protection mode. Absalom used to be an anonymous helpful source but trust is hard to come by for Gwen when she is being threatened.Gwen and Sam are hunting for Melvin. The risks are increased when video clips show the unimaginable. Jaw hanging intensity. Non stop tension and intrigue. Wow. I loved this book for the thriller aspect and felt for Gwen when her closest allies had to question her innocence. Fantastic.
