About this audiobook

It's Elizabeth's Wolf as you've never seen it before-New York Times bestselling author Lora Leigh revisits one of her earliest Breeds novels in this revised and expanded edition. She brought him back from death and made him live again. Dash thought himself alone, a soldier, a fighting machine and no more. Elizabeth made him realize he was a man. Danger surrounds the woman his soul marked as his mate, death and blood and a treachery that goes beyond even his worst nightmares. But he will protect her and what she claims as her own. He was created to kill, trained to do it efficiently, and only a man bound to her, heart and soul, will have the strength to save Elizabeth and her prized possession. He was a lone wolf. A man alone. No pack, no family, no one to call his own until one single, innocent letter awoke Elizabeth's wolf.

Lots of sexy scenes and heartwarming moments, but the conflict outside of the sexual and romantic arcs felt very underdeveloped compared to her other Breed books. I loved the family dynamics in this one though. The 3 main characters and relationships between them are well-done.

Not to my taste. I've liked others in this series, but I'm never a fan of stories about a man who is violently in love and so is cruel to the woman he supposedly desperately loves. Ick.

    Synopsis:
Dash Sinclair is a lone wolf with no one to call his own until one single, innocent letter brings him literally back to life. Elizabeth Colder is a mother on the run who will do anything to protect her child. Now, Dash and Elizabeth must overcome their worst fears and learn to love and trust or they will never survive the deadly threat they face.

    Review:
A compelling and entertaining addition to the imaginative Breeds series. There is a significant improvement in the balance between the story and the scorching love scenes, which mesh well with the plot rather than overshadowing it as they do in previous installments.

The characterization is well-developed and consistent. Dash and Elizabeth have an intense chemistry from the outset. Dash exhibits some of the characteristics of a tortured hero but these are tempered by his emotional connection to his brothers-in-arms, and to Elizabeth and her daughter. Elizabeth is an intriguing amalgamation of the pure mothering figure and the smart and sexy spitfire. Although she is immediately drawn to Dash’s strength and sensuality this does not override her doubts and trust issues. I liked that fact that their relationship builds over time and is not an instantaneous combustion as in the first two books. One problem I did have is with the sudden materialization of secondary characters toward the end with little to no development, and the fact that the villain always remains in the background, which minimizes the threat of his menace.

The writing is smooth and the book includes one of the most engrossing prologues I’ve ever read. The use of letters to establish the initial connection between the characters enhances the romance and is an excellent plot device. There are number of plot holes such as the inconsistency between Dash’s desire to protect Elizabeth and his deliberate decision to place her in harm’s way. Nevertheless, these do not detract from the overall story.

This is a sexy and entertaining read and I can’t wait for the next one. I finally get to read about Kane and Sherra.

This Breeds book had much more story than the previous two. I like the action/adventure/drama element too. Not to mention the bit of mystery surrounding the first half of the book before they find out why the bad guys are after them. The romance between Elizabeth and Dash was still good too though, I like the idea of loving someone before you've even met them, it makes it seem more real to me than "you're hot" or whatever. They fell in love with the people they truly are without seeing them.

I am going to use these reviews to make notes on the things I think I need to remember about the Breeds. As such there maybe SPOILERS that some readers don't want to know. This is the first book that Cassie, one of Ms. Leigh's most popular characters, is introduced. She is eight years older, but in many way more mature than anyone realizes. This is also the first of the wolf stories if you are reading on the proper order. No one knows yet if the Wolf Breeds from the Mexican labs are alive. At this point there is no information on the breeding heat that may exist in the Wolf Breeds. Dash's wolf genetics are recessed so he was able to live a normal life once he escaped from the labs. Dash is also the only Breed to be a part of the military. Cassie is the first and only at this point Breed child to be born by In Vitro fertilization. Which means that she shouldn't have a problem getting pregnant and having a Breed child.Dash is probably one of the most loved of all the Breeds. His sense of honor and loyalty are what makes the Breeds so special but Dash seems to have more of both. He also is special because he heard the desperation and longing in the letters a little girl sent him. He left his career and took on the almost impossible mission of finding the little girl and her mother. I loved that Elizabeth finally made him see that he had more friends than he ever expected and to accept what those friends wanted and needed to for him and his family. This story is also the first time Simon and his Ladies show up. Simon is a character and the reader gets a good dose of just how much of a character in this story. I always like to see Simon show up as he brings a certain unpredictability with him. His tough as nail ladies are take no prisoners types but they have a soft spot for the Texas cowboy. This is one of the best of the Breed stories and anyone reading them will enjoy it over and over again.

One of the earlier entries in the series, and although there are some serious plot holes (well, that's not surprising), it read well, probably because the protagonists were both interesting, competent adults.

Elizabeth's Wolf - Lora LeighBreeds, Book 3; Paranormal Romance; reread; 8/10I started rereading Leigh's Breed books because I was planning to go on with the series, but wanted to reread these earlier ones first. So far, this remains my favourite of the ones I've read and I enjoyed visiting with Dash, Elizabeth and Cassie again. I'm still deciding if I'm going to keep rereading or jump to the volume I'm up to in the series.

This is a reread, so I thought it was a keeper. But it didn't reread so well. I guess the first time around I was impressed with Dash's back story and his personality, but this time 'round there were so many plot holes and it just didn't grab me. Elizabeth's personality didn't make much sense and what I could see of her, frankly, I didn't like. I found her irritating.I found their relationship a bit ridiculous and those descriptions of him knotting her (he's part wolf) well, not so erotic, either in thought or deed. So this is going to the paperbackswap pile because I don't need to visit these characters again.

Dash Sinclair is drawn to a letter that saves him. He is determined to find the little girl who calls to him and asks his aid. After six months of searching, he finds the little girl, Cassie. He did not expect to find her mother as his compatible mate. Now, he uses all his military connections and friends to protect Elizabeth and Cassie.Compared to her other books on breeds, Dash's book has more depth. His character has a better background. I like the story too.
