Reviews for Advanced Master Herbalist

- Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5Ridiculous treatment of Herbalism... This is cookie-cutter Entrepreneurship at its worst. Finally got to 7 of 9 Contraindication section. Even with that, the list was long but with no reasoning behind it... just a very long list... rambling info, no teaching here. Maybe the worst I've seen. "Centre of Excellence", it is not. Advanced Master Herbalist course is severely lacking. My advice is to pick 2 good books and stick with that or take a simple course. There's a lot of information out there, in fact too much for a beginner. "The herbs of life" by Lesley Tierra (the newer "Healing with the Herbs of Life is good but very comprehensive") or Chinese Medicine for the Modern World by E Douglas Kihn is a good start for Chinese Medicine. Lise Wolf on-line herb walks (very practical), Sharol Tilgner books (more science-based), Home Grown Herb Course (Good basic low-cost course) are some ideas.

- Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5Don't read this, it's dangerous, pseudoscientific garbage. I won't say that there are no benefits to herbalistic cures, but this greatly exaggerates the benefits of herbalism while exaggerating the risks of conventional medicine. A good example of this occurs early on when they espouse the benefits of natural aspirin (derived from willow) compared to synthetic aspirin. The central thesis is natural is good, synthetic is bad, but that's not true. In fact, natural aspirin (salicylic acid) irritates the stomach lining, while the synthetic variety (acetylsalicylic acid/ASA) does not.
