About this audiobook

Wedding bells are ringing—and a widowed mother of two hopes the occasion will reunite her daughters in this captivating novel from the New York Times bestselling author of The Island House and Secrets in Summer.

“A delightful beach-town tale about family relationships and second chances.”—Kirkus Reviews

A few years after losing her beloved husband, Alison is doing something she never thought she would do again: getting married. While placing the finishing touches on her summer nuptials, Alison is anxious to introduce her fiancé, David, to her grown daughters: Felicity, a worried married mother of two, and Jane, also married but focused on her career. The sisters have a somewhat distant relationship and Alison hopes that the wedding and the weeks leading up to the ceremony will give the siblings a chance to reconnect, as well as meet and get to know David’s grown children.

As the summer progresses, it is anything but smooth sailing. Felicity stumbles upon a terrible secret that could shatter her carefully cultivated world. Jane finds herself under the spell of her soon-to-be stepbrother, Ethan, who is as charming as he is mysterious. And even Alison is surprised (and slightly alarmed) by her new blended family. Revelations, intrigue, resentments—as the Big Day approaches, will the promise of bliss be a bust?

Against the gorgeous backdrop of the sunswept island of Nantucket, Nancy Thayer sets the stage for a walk down the aisle no one will ever forget.

I’m sure this is a Good example of this genre but it’s definitely not my type. I alternated between wanting to slap and shake all the characters. I really should know better.

This was a good book for what I needed--an easy read that was great for mindless enjoyment. I was engaged in the story and liked the story line.

I have been a Nancy Thayer fan since her first book. She never disappoints, and as A Nantucket Wedding is perhaps her best yet, I have to say she just gets better and better.

Better than your average beach read. This book was fun between the craziness of a wedding and the blending of two families.

This book is what I needed for a light summer read. I enjoyed the story, and of course the setting of life in a beach house in Nantucket. However, there were a lot of characters that I did not enjoy. Alison, the main character, was also too agreeable when sometimes she should have been furious. Descriptions/recaps also happened a lot in this book, when it wasn't needed. Overall it was a decent book.

1 1/2 DNF @ page 108I'm cutting my losses. I've wasted far too long on a novel whose characters are self-absorbed and selfish; far too elitist; not to mention the lack of substance and plot.

This was such a light read without a lot of substance. I did a lot of skimming and wanted issues in this blended family to be resolved. I didn’t think this Nancy Thayer book was one of her best.

A quick summer read. Some interesting characters and a happy ending. Not a lot of substance but that’s what a “beach read” is all about. Thanks to LibraryThing for the advance copy.

I really enjoyed this book. It's perfect for a good summer reading book. Some of it is predictable, but then there are some surprises I was not expecting. I will be passing this one on to friends for their summer reading enjoyment. If you want a light book without heavy topics but still good writing then this one you will like!

Life is messy. And in its messiness, we can yearn for a fairy tale. Nancy Thayer's "A Nantucket Wedding" is a fairy tale in which there are bumps leading up to the wedding of Alison and David, an older couple each bringing adult married children and grandchildren into the blend. The family has money, an expansive beach house, and disagreements that appear to melt away or lessen with just the right words spoken. Even frosty Poppy, concerned about the soon-to-be stepmother becoming a part of the new family will and her ability to influence her father not to relinquish the CEO position to her in the family business as quickly as previously planned, swiftly falls into place as the novel neatly wraps up at the perfect seaside wedding -- a fairy tale ending. Fairy tales have their place and we all wish for that "happily ever after" feeling and it is this experience that Thayer once again delivers to the reader. I received my copy of this book through LibraryThing's Early Reviewer program.

I really enjoyed this book from start to finish. It was the perfect vacation/beach read. The setting of the story was perfect. I could picture myself there and with the family. The characters were all believable with real life problems. While at first glance, you might think this book was a romance. But it was really all about the complexities of relationships, blended families and real life family problems. It was also about realizing you should love what you have and enjoy your family. I thought that the story perfectly encapsulates the changes in relationships over time - the growing together, growing apart. The characters was awesomely drawn. The book outlines Allison, who is the mother getting re-married to David and their children. The book shows how one can move on after the death of a loved one and the struggles of someone facing retirement - both the joy and the reality of it. Their children were also awesome with two sisters (Jane and Felicity who are Allison's daughters) who renew their sisterly relationship over the course of the summer. David's children were another story, but believable characters. This is a great read for someone who enjoys women’s fiction. Reader received a complimentary copy from Good Reads First Reads program.

Just great entertainment, plain and simple. Well written and fun and I really enjoyed it. Easy to read, pick up and put down, nice for vacation. The story centers around a mother and her two daughters, who are preparing for the mother's wedding. Nicely developed characters and believable dialogue.

This was a wonderful book if you love the genre and although the plot may seem simple, it turns out to be more complicated than you might imagine. This book is about love found later in life and about blending two families of mostly adult children. Allison and David are getting married. They found each other later in life and have adult children from previous marriages. The children are invited to David's summer home in Nantucket to get to know each other. Needless to say there are a few clashes while everyone gets to know each other and wedding plans proceed. The real star of this story in Nantucket , which happens to be one of my favorite places in the world!

Author Nancy Thayer's beloved beachside tales are a genre all their own--atmospheric, compelling, romantic contemporary women's fiction. Once you read one--you can't wait to read another. In "A Nantucket Wedding", has been widowed for six years when she falls in love again and makes plans to be remarried. She and her fiance, David, both have grown children, and the two of them look forward to blending their families and sharing a new future together. However, the best-made plans often go astray, and as the wedding date approaches, reactions to the upcoming nuptials are varied, secrets are revealed, and the shadow of doubt rears its ugly head. A love worth having is always worth fighting for, and no matter what your age, when chemistry strikes, it's hard to resist. Can Alison and David hold on to those breathless, giddy moments and feelings of hope and joyful hearts as all around them becomes a kaleidoscope of change? "A Nantucket Wedding" is a wonderful romantic read--perfect for lovers of contemporary women's fiction.Book Copy Gratis Library Thing

Allison meets David a few year after her husband has passed away. Surprised to find herself a bride to be, she has the tough job of blending her family and David’s family together. Alice has two daughters who do not have a close relationship and David has a son and a daughter. Throw in a couple of spouses, some children, and you have a mess! A sweet story...some characters I loved, some....not so much! Yes, a great summer read!

I enjoy Nancy Thayers books to be my go to summer reads, when I can envision myself on Nantucket beaches and this book did just that for me. It kept us guessing a little as the plot moved along and left us in a good place for maybe her next book? I would love a trilogy of this family story!

This is a pretty classic beach read set in a beautiful place, Nantucket. Alison has invited her two adult daughters to the island, to her fiancée's beach home, to help begin preparations for the wedding. The visits continue to occur over the course of the summer, with siblings, husbands and kids all making an appearance. I kept wondering who are these people? They weren't very likable or relatable. The story followed a pretty predictable line. The last sections, when the wedding finally takes place, were the best.

A Nantucket Wedding is the perfect beach read. It's the story of a mature woman, planning her wedding, as her two adult daughters and a soon-to-be stepdaughter, struggle to accept that, along with some bumps in the road in their personal lives. As is typical of Nancy Thayer, the story is well-written and keeps the reader engaged.

A Nantucket WeddingByNancy ThayerWhat it's all about...Alison is getting ready for marriage number three. She lucked out by falling in love with David...he’s really wealthy and owns an amazing house in Nantucket. Their glam wedding will be on the island. However...before the wedding Alison wants to bring her family...daughters Jane and Felicity and David’s children Ethan and Poppy together. All of these grown children seem to have issues. Poppy is resentful of Alison...Ethan is a flirt...Felicity’s husband is losing her love ( he’s becoming a total jerk )and Jane wants children but her husband doesn’t. That’s my “in a nutshell” summary. Why I wanted to read it...I wanted a fun fast and interesting beachy book. This met my reading needs perfectly! What made me truly enjoy this book...I was virtually in Nantucket the moment I opened this book. I have read so many of this author’s books that beaches, shops, and restaurants are incredibly familiar. I can feel the sand! I can taste the foods! I can see the beach roses! Why you should read it, too...This book was really fabulous. The issues and these characters were so much fun. It was over the top enough and real enough to hold my attention throughout the entire book. I received an advance reader’s copy of this book from the publisher through NetGalley and Amazon. It was my choice to read it and review it.

Thank you NetGalley for an ARC e-book of this new "summer beach read" of Nancy Thayer. It was a very easy, light story to follow, typical of many beach reads. Allison is soon to be married again and is inviting her 2 grown daughters to her fiance's beach house estate to help her prepare for the wedding. Many events ensue with the sisters Allison and Felicity coming together for the first time in many years to share in David and Allison's future. This book is a very typical chik-lit summer beach read, a bit repetitive of many others, but easy to stay with to the end.

This was my second book by this author. Again, entertaining and a great beach read. Nothing that really blew me away, but I do have a couple of comments on some of the annoying characters.Poppy - What a beatch!Alison - Please, please, please take a chill pill. Her whining was really starting to irk me.Ingrid - Sorry, but what a BORING name especially for someone who seems to be the "bad girl" at first. As I said, a decent read. Not as good as the first one I read, but still good. Thanks to Random House/Ballantine and Net Galley for providing me with a free e-galley in exchange for an honest, unbiased review.

I received this book through Goodreads Giveaway from Random House Reader's Circle and appreciative of the opportunity. I am having difficulty writing a review. I felt something was missing or off with the story line. Yes there were typical family issues but there was so much emphasis on money, power and possessions. Maybe it was me but it did not seem realistic, just sons and daughters with their spouses and children who were all somewhat spoiled. I wish I could have been more positive.
