About this audiobook

Simple. Neat. Orderly.

A place for everything, and everything in its place.

Karmen Handel's life growing up had been anything but quiet and simple. A deadbeat father, a mother who never wanted her, and a grandmother who could care less were the perfect recipe to ensure Karmen built a wall around herself and never let anyone in. When her past comes back to haunt her, Karmen has no one to help her. Until Nickel.

Complicated. Dirty. Restless.

Live to ride. Ride to live.

Nickel Cunningham lives free with the brothers he calls family and has never craved anything more until he met Karmen. The shy, quiet nurse who cares for his grandma caught his eye months ago, and he hasn't been able to get her off his mind since. Nickel knows what he wants, but he's never had to fight for it before. Until Karmen.

Contains mature themes.

It was not the usual MC type of book I'm used to but nonetheless it was good. I loved the chemistry between Karmen & Boink.

This was my first Winter Travers book, but it came well recommended and I like reading about MCs, so I figured, hey, why not? It's not like I have anything to lose by reading it. I'm glad I did, though. I enjoyed the book.

Karmen has been neglected and abandoned by her family all her life. She's worked really hard to be the person that she is now and she doesn't want to depend on anyone or let anyone in. She works as a nurse in a nursing home with her bestie, Nikki, and she enjoys her life.

Nickel's grandmother has been in the nursing home where Karmen works for a year. He goes to visit her every week, not just because he loves his grandmother, but also because he wants to get together with Karmen. Finally, she agrees to go out with him to see a fireworks show, and sparks definitely fly.

When Karmen's past comes back to haunt her, then Nickel has to do everything he can to protect his woman. The story is pretty well-written, and the characters are likable. The story is a standalone, but there is a larger storyline at play, which is going to be interesting to track through the rest of the series.
