About this audiobook
The larger-than-life journey of an 18-year-old college freshman who set out from his dorm room to track down Bill Gates, Lady Gaga, and dozens more of the world's most successful people to uncover how they broke through and launched their careers.
The Third Door takes readers on an unprecedented adventure—from hacking Warren Buffett's shareholders meeting to chasing Larry King through a grocery store to celebrating in a nightclub with Lady Gaga—as Alex Banayan travels from icon to icon, decoding their success. After remarkable one-on-one interviews with Bill Gates, Maya Angelou, Steve Wozniak, Jane Goodall, Larry King, Jessica Alba, Pitbull, Tim Ferriss, Quincy Jones, and many more, Alex discovered the one key they have in common: they all took the Third Door.
Life, business, success… it's just like a nightclub. There are always three ways in. There's the First Door: the main entrance, where ninety-nine percent of people wait in line, hoping to get in. The Second Door: the VIP entrance, where the billionaires and celebrities slip through. But what no one tells you is that there is always, always… the Third Door. It's the entrance where you have to jump out of line, run down the alley, bang on the door a hundred times, climb over the dumpster, crack open the window, sneak through the kitchen—there's always a way in. Whether it's how Bill Gates sold his first piece of software or how Steven Spielberg became the youngest studio director in Hollywood history, they all took the Third Door.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Plain Amazing. Alex is the definition of ”If there’s a will, there’s a way”!
Also, the best audiobook performance I’ve yet to listen to. He really pours his heart on this, and makes the story come alive so perfectly. Amazing, thank you! - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This audiobook was amazing!!!! It was entertaining and had so many good lessons! All I ever read are personal development books and this was so refreshing.. written by someone much younger than the usual authors who had so many lessons to share. He walks you through his entire adventure (if you could call it that as it was a pretty rocky road) of fulfilling his dream. It's a story of a normal kid just like anyone else who did unbelievable things and really helps you to grasp the hard to grasp fact that ANYONE can do ANYTHING if they really set their mind to it! Highly recommend this audiobook! Well read by the author who is a very likeable guy. ?
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I’ve read almost every book in the personal development category, and this one is quite possibly the best. The story is so wild, it’s hard to believe it’s true. The lessons learned are poignant and easy to grasp. The authors narration of the tale deserves an award of its own. And my eyes welled up during the acknowledgements. For anyone trying to accomplish something big, this book is a must read! Can’t wait to read it again!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This is one of the best books I’ve read this year! And I love the fact that Alex did the audio for it as well!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This is more than a book. A mix of provocative and inspirational tales and stories makes it speak directly to the soul.
It challenged every limiting belief I have, and made me realize that indeed there's always, always a third door to success.
I recommend this to anyone starting out a career or new 'advent'. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Its quite excitement journey ! loved ! so much ♡
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This book was great and the authors enthusiasm while reading it takes it to the next level!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I really loved this book! The story teaches you the wisdom from giants. It's like the quote says: "Standing on the shoulders of giants"
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5A Great story for all ages to experience. Well done! I was rooting for Alex the whole time! Motivation to peruse your own dream! Definitely worth the time! Great lessons from many people! I'm glad Alex narrated his own story!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Exceptional and mind blowing. One the greatest books ever written.. Thanks Alex!.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Funny book. At the first chapter. I was thinking what things could I learn from a 19 year old. But turn out pretty good. And his experience was hilarious, I wish I can always be like a 20 years old and be fierceless and less reality restrictions. The first few was a little lame and slow. I was this close in stopping the book. But I thought well. Let’s listen to another 5 mins. Then i can’t stop. I wanted to know the stories.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5It is what I was looking for. Find a mentor and show them that you deserve an opportunity.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Alex is a fantastic writer and just as good as a narrator. Entertaining, enlightening and motivating. A great collection of insights!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5an inspirational book that made me think of my life!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I don’t know what makes this book so great but I just couldn’t stop listening...
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Very inspiring book. I would say everyone needs to read this book. It’s captivating on so many levels and really gets you to think about what you’re doing in your life and how you can improve on the foundation. Highly recommend
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Interesting story. I think this is one best left to a print book though. Listening to this guy semi-emulate Pitbull, Maya Angelou, and Quincy Jones's speech was so cringey. There was also a lot of him shouting. A for enthusiasm, but not great for headphones.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Great storey telling by Alex the author. I loved how this book doesn’t give you checkpoints to tick off in order to become successful but rather is the storey of Alex’s journey to get very hard to get interviews with some of the worlds richest and most influential people. The mind shift he goes through on that journey is the real thing you take away from the book.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Everything about this book is amazing. Highly recommend by far one of the best books I’ve ever read.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Excellent book - about journey and process - learning through your "failures" and from your experiences in hindsight - all through Alex's first hand experiences. Also - the book may come across as very male oriented for the first three quarters, and then there is an important shift - in the author's consciousness which is made well-known - and is much appreciated.
There is this strange "inspirational" music at the start of some of the chapters in the audio book --- it doesn't remain during the whole time while he speaks - don't worry - I was skipping through to make sure the whole book wasn't like that!
Alex's narration of his own book is excellent - you can also check out his interview/podcast with Matt D'Avella. He has an great delivery method and feels like you are in dialogue/ conversation with him. He takes you on the journey! - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Honestly, changed my life for the better. I am not the same person I was before I read this. Thank you so much, Alex.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Incredible book. Finished it in 2 days and love every minute of it.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Absolutely loved this book! Trying to find my third door now. Everyone needs to read it.
