About this audiobook
While the devastatingly seductive ex-vampire, Istvan Baka, is forced to relive his tragic life as human and confront his history as a vampire, a very pregnant Elora Laiken gets aid from an unlikely source-a New Forest wolf pack-when she's attacked by assassins from her dimension of origin. While their friends and mates mount respective searches and race to rescue them, these two friends and almost lovers, joined by a mystical bond, separated by distance, must simultaneously struggle alone through their own personal tortures in pain and darkness.

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5This series has turned out to be a guilty little pleasure of mine since I am not accustomed to reading books with such explicit sex. I do love however the easy manner in which Mrs Danann weaves deep, loveable characters into absolutely captivating story line. Since much of my days are filled with toddler time, many nights are spent reading "just one more chapter" into the wee hours. My husband often rolls over and barks out sleepily "go to bed now or feel the consequences tomorrow" and I just can't bring myself to do it even though I'm too old to go the night without sleep painlessly. oh well. The books are always satisfying and also noteworthy, they are cliffhanger free!!! This book in particular is especially sweet because Baka gets his "happily ever after", for now at least. Such a great series for those that are into super sexy, Paranormal, action packed love stories!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Itsvan Baka has been alive for over 600 hundred years, or more aptly, a vampire. But finally his wish has come true. A cure for vampirism has been found and he has set out to help his fellow brethren from their fates as the undead. Little does he know that a trap has been set and only a woman from his past can save him with her special skills. And during this time also, Elora Laiken has befriended a group of wolves in her elfin husband's garden of eden. But Elora is not alone here and soon finds herself in trouble of the worst kind, shot, hurt, and going into labor. Once again, Victoria Danann has brought the love story of her characters in the Black Swan series into my heart. I cannot sing enough praise for her use of the word to convey a truly romantic story. For all the characters involved I find myself wanting to know how their lives are unfolding.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I have previously read books one and two in the series, and truly didn’t see just where Victoria Danann could take this story, or if it would be as enjoyable. I am thoroughly relieved to say that this book doesn’t miss a beat, picking up shortly after the end of The Witch’s Dream, and giving us glimpses into the lives of characters we know so well. The plot does not stagnate one bit, even with all of the changes to the Bad Company of the Order, and the introduction of new characters, and the deeper exploration of secondary characters was all managed with Danann’s usual flair for description and playing with the reader’s emotions. Introducing characters with skills and talents previously unseen in the earlier books, the history of vampire and the Order are all detailed as characters and reader alike are brought up to speed with information necessary to the current story and conflict.
As multiple stories are seemingly unrelated, each brings with it a new dimension that begins to form a pattern that slowly leads all players to one key game, one final showdown to succeed and emerge intact. It is the chase to the end, the multiple and variant tensions, the characters that have become your friends, your heroes and your entertainment keep you reading long past bedtime and into the night – for you need to know how it all ends. A gripping read that will please fans of the series, and is best enjoyed after reading books one and two. Completely worth the time and sleepless nights – and now I am left to wonder impatiently what will happen in the proposed book four.
