About this audiobook

No one likes a rebellious captive.

I learned that the hard way. I'd been abducted from earth and cruelly tormented for my fighting spirit until I learned that the only thing that would keep me safe is to be sweet and calm and agreeable. It's what keeps me alive.

When I'm rescued by space pirates, they tell me I'm safe. I'm told I can be myself again, get as angry as I want, laugh and cry and scream all I need. I don't believe them, of course. I certainly don't believe Alyvos, the "muscle" of the pirate ship. Everyone says that he likes nothing more than a good fight, but to me, he's kind and protective. How can I fear someone who holds me tenderly through the night and has fuzzy skin?

But my pirate wants more from me than I'm ready to give. He wants my fiery spirit . . . and I'm not sure it's there anymore.

Contains mature themes.

Heroine decides to jettison all her goodwill by turning into an insane person in chapter 24 and of course she gets her way.

Same pattern as the first two, a little darker, but the ending feels really bad because the heroine's fear means they just let a human trafficker go and don't save any of the women who were going to be delivered to him. Just ruins any happiness for the couple.

? this novel. Very thrilling, full of suspense, heroic, and romantic.

Ruby Dixon is a master at her craft. She somehow balances horrific and smutty while still making her characters feel real. This one was more brutal than the others I've read from her. Iris is a compelling lead. I had a hard time, as I'm sure others did, with the atrocities that happened to her. Something I love is that Ruby doesn't shy away from how cruel people (aliens) can be. She talks about it, shows the trauma, but untimely shows that people/ aliens are mostly kind and worthy of love.

Loved it! All her books are great. On to the next book!

This book is so much darker than any other book have listened to by Ruby Dixon, but both Alyvos and Iris though broken and flawed are brilliant characters, and as usual there is still humour woven through making it less heavy and such an enjoyable listen.

I really wish the end of the book would have had the crew board that ship and kill the evil slave Lord but still a good story.

It started really good and very promising but the ending really goes against the main character personality trait. she is supposed to be strong and have survived many things yet the ending shows so much weakness and selfishness. I love all of ruby Dickson books but this one, this story, I’m sorry to say was a waste of my time just because of the ending.

    Love those big blue guys

I don't care where they are, I love Ruby Dixon's blue guys. Alyvos may be my new fave hero and Iris is a strong character. Love them both.
