About this audiobook

By the New York Times bestselling author who “hilariously depicts modern dating” (Us Weekly), My Favorite Half-Night Stand is a laugh-out-loud romp through online dating and its many, many fails.

Millie Morris has always been one of the guys. A UC Santa Barbara professor, she’s a female-serial-killer expert who’s quick with a deflection joke and terrible at getting personal. And she, just like her four best guy friends and fellow professors, is perma-single.

So when a routine university function turns into a black tie gala, Mille and her circle make a pact that they’ll join an online dating service to find plus-ones for the event. There’s only one hitch: after making the pact, Millie and one of the guys, Reid Campbell, secretly spend the sexiest half-night of their lives together, but mutually decide the friendship would be better off strictly platonic.

But online dating isn’t for the faint of heart. While the guys are inundated with quality matches and potential dates, Millie’s first profile attempt garners nothing but dick pics and creepers. Enter “Catherine”—Millie’s fictional profile persona, in whose make-believe shoes she can be more vulnerable than she’s ever been in person. Soon “Catherine” and Reid strike up a digital pen-pal-ship...but Millie can’t resist temptation in real life, either. Soon, Millie will have to face her worst fear—intimacy—or risk losing her best friend, forever.

Perfect for fans of Roxanne and She’s the Man, Christina Lauren’s latest romantic comedy is full of mistaken identities, hijinks, and a classic love story with a modern twist. Funny and fresh, you’ll want to swipe right on My Favorite Half-Night Stand.

I felt like the ending of the story line was rushed and not as good as it could have been.

This one is definitely different than their other books/series. It had less sex, more character focus. Not to imply that their earlier books aren't good, just different. The characters are really relatable in their online dating endeavors and Millie is exactly the kind of character I didnt realize I wanted to see in contemporary books. In this age where most millennial adults are navigating dating there are plenty of Reids and Millie's out there. This book is a pretty accurate glimpse into online dating, and dating in general.

As always Christina Lauren never fail to write a romantic comedy with depth. The flaws that their female characters, and for this one Millie, are ones that many readers can either identify with or they have someone in their lives with them. I'm always moved with the growth of the characters and all they have learned about, not just themselves, but also relationships. Another favorite that will be reread in the coming year to make me laugh, cry and swoon. Great narrators and so glad I went this route and will try it again for both future and past releases.

Solid 3.5. Interesting setting that I don’t read a lot of. Cute friends to lovers. But calling her Mills kept reminding me of Patty Mills. Also the narrator for the Milly part was irritating to listen to and it lowkey gave Marge Simpson vibes. I’ll have to avoid all her other Christina Lauren audios.

DNF at 20%. I didn't like the narrators so couldn't really get into this story. The h is annoying and selfish. Meh.

I liked the story, but a few of the plot strings were left unfinished. Like i was hooked when she said she liked to read about female murderers. It is mentioned right at the beginning and then only at the end. I thought it would play a greater role, because that's part of her job, but then again, her job is only mentioned a few times.
I liked that it didn't have near misses - like she likes him, but then she doesn't.. or just drama in general. It was a plain (love) story between 2 friends. I think that was what made it real, relatable.
I didn't like the IM/ messaging part. It felt out of place.

Predictable but well-written, with two main characters whom I enjoyed listening to. This audio recording needs some quality control though. There are electronic sounds that interrupt the dialogue repeatedly, and in some of the later chapters, including the last chapter, there are sections that will not play and have to be skipped. I do not know what the last sentence of the book was, which leaves me a bit unsatisfied.

It was an easy, romantic listen. You know what you’re getting with this type of book. Couldn’t stop thinking how much Millie needs therapy throughout the book though lol

I don't really read a ton of romance books but I have really enjoyed most of CLs books. RomeComs are definitely easier for me to get into and enjoy. I loved this story and I adored the relationships between everyone.

I’d actually give it a 3.5 I like quick type reads that are relatively upbeat and the typical friends to lovers was cute but the overwhelming need to be relatable to young reads was ick and spoiler……didn’t like that Millie came out on top she was wrong for what she did

Christina Lauren yet again smash it with this one! This is written cleverly, so witty and funny, with just the right amont of steaminess. The premise of using dating app as the means to get a date for an event is brilliant! You know dating app could end up into 2 outcomes, disaster or otherwise. Love that the group of friends are a bunch of academicians, with busy schedules, i struggling to find time to settle down. All in all, i find that the story is so relatable and amazing!
