About this audiobook

As a pirate, I tend to hang out with unsavory outcasts at the edges of the known universe. I'm used to running into thieves, assassins, and fugitives. It shouldn't surprise me to see a forbidden human female for sale in the tunnels of the space station, but I hate it. When I see she's near death, I have to act.

I buy her.

She spits in my face.

It's love at first sight.

At least, it's love at first sight on my end. I know it can never be, though, because I'm an ugly beast of an alien to her. The enemy. If only she knew just how many laws I'd be willing to break for one taste of her lips . . .

Contains mature themes.

This was so good to read! I did not expect this series to be so good, it’s just as good as the ice planet series. Super cute, sexy sex scenes, I just wish it was longer though. ??

This was like, really good???? I did not expect to find dynamic and vulnerable portrayals of trauma and recovery in alien erotica. Which was also super hot! Like that bar scene? Whew!

This book is IBP adjacent. It's in the same 'verse, and the guys are roughly the same species, at least a few generations back they were. The human women are still being abducted and stolen for slaves. However, it's different from our favorite barbarians because it takes place in a technologically advanced society.

Tarekh is a member of the crew of the Dancing Fool. He and all the rest of the crew are taking a break while the captain and his new human mate are taking a little vacation to celebrate their mating. While Tarekh is out with other crew members, something happens that causes his companion to go and chase after someone so that he can get in a fight. Tarekh decides to follow him, slower, and he sees a clot of people around a bunch of women. He notices that there's a human woman, who is badly injured and nearly dead. He knows that he can't leave her like that, so he buys her and takes her with him.

Cat has spent the last year as a pleasure slave, not that she's gotten a lot of pleasure out of it. She's a fighter and has fought what happened to her as much as she could, and she's paid the price for it. Now, she's in a lot of pain and is slowly dying. When the big horned demon pays for her, she figures that he's buying her for sex and she'll end up right back where she was. But when that doesn't happen, she's thrown a little off balance.

This book shows how it can take a long time and a lot of work for people to regain their ability to trust and for others to believe what they are being told. It's a great story on many levels, and I enjoyed it, quite a bit.
