About this audiobook

We've all heard the story of the Four Horsemen. Harbingers of the apocalypse. Destruction given form. Four of the sexiest-wait no-forget that. You get my point.

So imagine my surprise when I find out everything I've ever been told, is a lie.

But we're getting ahead of ourselves here. Let's start from the beginning.

My name is Ruby Morningstar. I run a tattoo parlor in Portland with my best friend, have a pet raccoon, a crazy ex that stalks me, not to mention this one little thing . . I'm a demon. Half-succubus, to be exact. For the last twenty-three years of my life, that's the story I believed, but on the day a handsome stranger bails me out of jail my world is turned upside down, and suddenly I don't know who I am anymore.

Because the Four Horsemen aren't the bringers of the apocalypse.

I am.

Talk about never catching a break.

Contains mature themes.

This story was just very average for me. Not sure if I’ll continue with this series.
At least the book was short.

So far so good, definitely going to listen to the rest of this series. Only small technical issue, some chapter seem to cut off literally a second or two before they should ;)

Skeptical at first, but the story was refreshing and not the typical four horseman story.

I had this audiobook in my library since the big audible sale and I wanted something different than what I had been reading/listening to and I was not disappointed! I don't know what I didnt listen to these sooner, but I am so glad I finally did ❤️. I loved Ruby and these characters, they were a breath of fresh air, with all the snark included hahaha. I enjoyed Moira and Ruvy's relationship, also Bandit was hilarious and adorable! I liked the faster pace with the fated grouping/bonds, but liked that the sexy time wasn't as fast. She takes her time letting the guys in, especially given her tough past and the events she has to go through just in book 1. I was happy to see the karmic justice to Josh and the imp, not gonna lie. I was intrigued to see how Ruby would transition with beast/inner demon and what powers she would get as the series went on. So after book 1, Rysten was definitely my favorite and then came Allistair. I was on the fence with Julian which was what Kel was going for hahaha because he was so stubborn and uptight when it came to Ruby and the other Horsemen. BTW those new covers....definitely going to get this series in paperback as well ???

In terms of the narration, I have listened to Hollie Jackson before and she did a good job. I thought she was fabulous with the women voices and inflections, those performances were stellar throughout the whole series. With her guy performances, there were some bumps for me. Book 1 was the best I think, but some of the accents became ambiguous as the series went on (in terms of British or Aussie for some of the guys haha). Only critique from me, which is why I gave it a 4/5 stars for the performance.

Overall really like this book and devoured the rest of the series over the week. Definitely recommend, on point with other Kel work. I hope she continues to write all types of books because I love all kinds, but her RH ones are fabulous ❤️

I'm so eager to find out what happens, who she becomes, will her pet do even more cute things in the next book! Need those books now!

Audio performance was good, story fairly engaging, I just wish the fun paranormal romance didn’t come with a side of extreme violence. At least warn readers that the book contains r*pe and s!xual violence. I guess I was looking for a fun escape, and instead had to cope with the trauma experienced by the main character. I haven’t yet read the rest of the series, but this one shouldn’t be classified under “romance.” There certainly isn’t a HEA in this one.

This is a very fun read. It is on the short side, but that doesn’t hurt it at all, except that you’ll want more. I’m going to try and tell you what I liked without any spoilers.

Muriel is the vivacious, defiant daughter of Satan and that is a source of never ending embarrassment to him. I thought Muriel was a tough, confident woman. Yet she had her vulnerabilities. She is a virgin and will remain that way until she finds love and this sets up many hilarious scenes between her and her father.

Satan/Daddy is not what you’d expect from the ultimate evil. He’s just a dad that loves his daughter (even though he’d never admit it). Satan has to deal with the fact that Muriel is his “good” daughter and he has reputation to maintain.

Auric turns out to be all Muriel is looking for and everything her daddy didn’t want. The question of whom and what he really is was something I couldn’t figure out, but when he enters the bar things really heat up. The sex is intense, well written, and abundant.

I got to know and like the characters very well and am looking forward to continuing with the series.

I received a copy of the book in return for an honest review.

Utterly ridiculous. I remember tweeting that I was pissed I'd spent money on it.
