- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5DCI Jack Russell is called in to investigate the disappearance of a young couple during a storm near Loch Ness. This is Russell's last case before retirement and tensions are high, in part because his partner and the other crew seem to behave like schoolyard bullies rather than seasoned police officers. This is one reason I'm taking a star off; the second reason is the extraneous characters who take up a large part of the narrative without actually adding anything to the story. Why do we need to know the landlady of the local bed 'n breakfast in intimate detail?
The mystery itself is compelling, I for one was completely taken by surprise.
