About this audiobook

Medium and clairvoyant Simon Kincaide owns a Myrtle Beach boardwalk shop where he runs ghost tours, holds seances, and offers private psychic readings, making a fresh start after his abilities cost him his lover and his job as a folklore professor. Jaded cop Vic D'Amato saw something supernatural he couldn't explain during a shootout several years ago in Pittsburgh and relocated to Myrtle Beach to leave the past behind, still skeptical about the paranormal. But when the search for a serial killer hits a dead end, Vic battles his skepticism to ask Simon for help. As the body count rises, Simon's involvement makes him a target, and a suspect. But Simon can't say no, even if it costs him his life and heart.

I listened all the way through because I wanted to know how the mystery turned out but I was frustrated by the main characters and their lack of communication with each other. The narration was decent, but I couldn’t tell the MCs apart. I really liked the way Kale Williams narrated the Mermaid Murders by Josh Lanyon, but this time I kept thinking that both MCs sounded exactly like Sam Kennedy from that book.

This was a great book. I listened to the audio. The narrator was great but I did increase the speed.

The book pulls you in from the start. I got attached to all of the characters. I can’t wait to start the next book in the series.

It's a mystery with a paranormal twist...a cop and a psychic working together. This was a great start to a new series that I am definitely looking forward to. The book introduces us to the good-hearted but cynical workaholic cop ...Detective Vic D'Amato... and the kind of nerdy...but so sweet, former professor... currently paranormal shop owner, and ghost tour guide... Simon Kincaide. There is nothing fake about Simon’s abilities to speak with the dead and receive messages...nor how he feels about the sexy homicide detective. I really liked also hearing from two of my favorite characters from the [Wolfbane] series by this same author. Hope she continues to include Seth and Elliott in the story. Overall...it’s a great romance and a really superb mystery.

Badlands by Morgan BriceA paranormal M-M romantic suspense. Someone is targeting and killing psychics in Myrtle Beach. Vic decides to seek psychic help on behalf of the police department, but Simon’s reading gets a little to close to home for Vic. The two grow close and the danger on the Strand gets closer. A romantic suspense that gets more intense as the story progresses. I liked that the two started their sexual relationship slowly but thought the first sex scene was rushed and without much heat or arousal. Their next dinner and talking and getting to know each other made it more of a relationship than an encounter which made the couple more interesting. Simon’s dismissal of how the police would react seemed overdone, in particular because Vic is a cop.A good paranormal romance in the end with fun appearances by characters from the author’s other series.

Clairvoyant Simon Kincaide makes his money running a tourist shop on Myrtle Beach. Under wraps, he's a very talented medium and tries to do his best to help the people around him. When he meets cop Vic D'Amato... they become involved in a case... and a relationship.

If you like Supernatural Fanfiction, you'll probably enjoy this book. It wasn't really my thing, the relationship between the main characters went from zero to sixty in about 2 seconds so it was a bit unrealistic. I enjoyed the way the author wove in a few side characters with preternatural abilities. I like the idea of an underground network of people keeping track of all things spooky!

If this story appeals to you, you're in luck because Morgan Brice has quite a selection of books available!
