About this audiobook
Memory makes reality.
That’s what NYC cop Barry Sutton is learning, as he investigates the devastating phenomenon the media has dubbed False Memory Syndrome — a mysterious affliction that drives its victims mad with memories of a life they never lived.
That’s what neuroscientist Helena Smith believes. It’s why she’s dedicated her life to creating a technology that will let us preserve our most precious memories. If she succeeds, anyone will be able to re-experience a first kiss, the birth of a child, the final moment with a dying parent.
As Barry searches for the truth, he comes face to face with an opponent more terrifying than any disease — a force that attacks not just our minds, but the very fabric of the past. And as its effects begin to unmake the world as we know it, only he and Helena, working together, will stand a chance at defeating it.
But how can they make a stand when reality itself is shifting and crumbling all around them?
At once a relentless pause-resister and an intricate science-fiction puzzle-box about time, identity, and memory, Recursion is a thriller as only Blake Crouch could imagine it — and his most ambitious, mind-boggling, irresistible work to date.

not my kind of book but I liked it nonetheless
Imho it's a better version of The First Fifteen Lives of Harry August - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5My mind has been blown, and I loved every minute of it! I dont know what to say other than wow
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5And it's another great one from Blake Crouch. How this author manages to take a mind-bending concept and make it readily accessible for even non-science-minded folk like myself, I don't know. But he did it with Dark Matter, and has done it again here, and it's wonderful. This time he's tackling time travel and memory, and yes, he connects them so that they make almost perfect sense. I'm sure if I sat and tried I could probably poke holes in some of his plot points (or more likely, just confuse myself completely!) but I chose to just roll with the happenings in the book, and it was a terrific ride. It's full of interesting and complex characters that I cared about, and while the pace isn't quite breakneck, it moves along nicely. In short, I highly recommend this one. (And the narration of the audiobook is excellent.)
My thanks to Netgalley and Crown Publishing for providing a copy for an unbiased review. - Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/520 pages would have been enogh to tell the story. As for the characters, 5 sentences would have done it. Yet better than most SF today.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This book was so good and I really enjoyed it from start to finish. Good job Blake.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5A wild book with many twists and turns. A thriller which makes you wonder what is real. Plus a love story too.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5An enthralling, ingenious adventure; introspective and retrospective throughout characters that become an exciting escape into an alluring alternate reality. Riveting read.
