About this audiobook

Her first mission: Protect the Prince

From USA Today bestselling author Jillian Dodd comes the first book in a sizzling series filled with action and adventure. Fans of The Selection and The Hunger Games will discover a heart-pounding thrill ride of espionage and suspense set in glittering high society.

An eighteen-year-old covert agent is pulled out of training before graduation by Black X, an espionage group so secret even the President of the United States doesn't know it exists.

For her first mission, she must go undercover as the long-lost daughter of a recently deceased billionaire, infiltrate high society, and protect the Prince of Montrovia from assassination. But Prince Lorenzo is known as the Playboy Prince for a reason, and his sensuality and charisma add a whole other level of complication to her mission.

She knows that her every move is being watched, but what she doesn't know is that the Prince is just a chess piece in a bigger game that will have world-wide ramifications. And that Blackwood Academy, the place she has called home for the past six years, has secrets of its own.

Oh, dear, this was a train-wreck. The only thing going for "The Prince" was that it was a quick read. The characters were flat, the plot flawed and the book lacked action. I was expecting a tight, suspense-filled read with a tough, feisty female lead. Instead I got Huntley, who was obnoxious and shallow. She spent very little time actually being a spy. Rather she happily hopped from one guy's bed to another, partied hard and enjoyed the hight-life.The love triangle had me shaking my head. Daniel was practically useless and the prince wasn't far behind. Within a matter of a few days, Huntley was convinced she was in love with both young men.Basically, "The Prince" was a load of drivel. I have just discovered they are seven books in this series, and I can only hope they aren't all as bad as this one. However, I won't be finding out if they are or aren't. Life is too short!

I enjoyed this action, spy story, with a little romance. I voluntarily chose to review this story. I've given it a 4.5* rating. This is a mix of fun and scary spy stuff, sort of like you get in a James Bond Movie. She comes with gadgets to help her and keep them out of the hands of the innocent. There are some twists and turns to keep you turning the pages. This gal is too good looking for her own good. She's drawing a lot of interest wherever she goes. There is a lot of emplied sexual content. Not for the under 18 readers. It's a sort of fun read.
