About this audiobook

When Misa Atkinson confesses to the murder of Steven Bingham, her sister's brother-in-law, for doing the unthinkable to her son, everything is turned upside down. Misa now faces jail time and the loss of her son forever, and his drug lord brother, Frankie Bingham is out for revenge. Camille drops another bomb on Frankie, telling her estranged husband (and his mistress) that she is pregnant with his child. Their friends, Dominique and Toya gather around Camille and Misa in their time of need, but the storm clouds have gathered over their own lives as well. Dominique's daughter has gone missing and a dark figure from Toya's past has come back with a vengeance. Against the backdrop of a high profile murder case these four friends will band together like they never have before as they confront the demons of their pasts and an uncertain future together. And in the end, they are forever changed.

Aftermath is a story of love, pain, friendship and betrayal. There were a lot of characters introduced at the very beginning of the book which made it a little confusing, but it eventually all came together pretty well. This is not a page turner but it is an interesting story and over all a good read. It kept me wanting to know what would happen next. I enjoyed the book and would read more by this author in the future.

Aftermath is a definite page-turner. Misa has to defend herself against murder charges after killing Steven Bingham, her sister's brother-in-law, when she suspects him of sexually abusing her three-year-old son. Everyone in their lives takes sides, including Frankie, Camille's husband, who had already decided to leave her for Gillian Nobles, daughter of the recently slain drug kingpin. And that's not giving anything away. Seems like a lot of characters and subplots to keep up, but Tracy Brown deftly weaves it all together, making it easy for the reader to become immersed in this New York City tale. Brown penned a sweeping story about two sisters dealing with the consequences of their decisions. But it seems everyone in the story has to address some consequences stemming from faulty judgment. Each character has made less than ideal decisions, and each must pay a price in someway. Retribution and redemption are served in equal doses, as these New Yorkers struggle with living the life of their dreams while facing the pasts that made them who they are and brought them to their rocky present.

I recieved this book through the Early Reviewers program on Librarything. As the descrption of the book was intriguing, I was excited when I received this book in the mail. Aftermath is different than most books that I typically chose to read. I read more of the Christian fiction and Chick-lit genre, so suffice it to say I found the language to be a bit saltier than I'm used to. Aftermath deals with many in your face subjects, i.e. infidelity, murder, abortion, organized crime, and child sexual abuse. All of these subjects are certainly ones out of my comfort zone, so it was hard at times to not want to skip these parts of the book. But doing so, would water down the context of the story and the impact of the overall plot would be lost. There are a lot of characters involved in the telling of this story and at times I did get confused on who belonged to who. I feel that Tracy Brown, the author of Aftermath, is very compelling in the fine details of the subjects at hand. She kept my interest in the main topic, the murder, and I was eagerly awaiting the point where I could find out the verdict of the trial. The situations presented in Aftermath are ones that I have never been subjected to in my own life and it has opened my eyes to the grief and sadness that people in the world have to deal with.

This book was a good read. Definitely not a boring read but not a book that you simply can't put down either. There were not a lot of twists and turns. I like a book with a lot of surprises. While this book was predictable, the story was still very good. There were numerous characters in the book with numerous personalities portrayed. All in all a good read but not an excellent read. I would read more books by this author in the future.

Very good series the writer did a very good job with all of the characters. Sometimes when it’s a lot of characters the it’s hard to follow but this was easy to follow. Great storyline.

Aftermath by Tracy Brown was amusing like a soap opera. Misa, Toya, Camille, and Dominique are friends in the midst of life changing events. The kickoff of the drama is Misa murdering her brother-in-law, Steven Bingham. When I quickly found out that she believed Steve was molesting her toddler son some of the suspense was lost and I found myself slowly losing interest. Steven is the brother of big time gangster Frankie Bingham, Camille's husband. Frankie and Camille are currently parting ways and Misa killing Steven, is like dynamite to their crumbling relationship. Friends Dominique and Toya lend support to the sisters as Misa goes on trial for her life. But they are also dealing with their own issues. The drama is each woman's life is slightly entertaining but I sometimes found myself struggling to create a connection with the characters. Instead of becoming a part of the story, I was just reading a book. However, I was able to enjoy the dramatic turnings of their lives. It reminded me to thank God for my humble, boring life. I'll admit, I did not read the prequel, Snapped. And having some previous knowledge of the characters may have helped me care for them more now. This is your typical urban tale. Pick this one up when you need an easy read.

The main plot of Aftermath revolves around Misa, who killed her sister, Camile's, brother-in-law Steven, because she suspected that he had molested her child. The story is complicated from the start, but definitely a page turner! Even though every character seems to be in the midst of their own personal chaos, each of their stories links back to the main event, Steven's murder. Tracy Brown does an excellent job of peeling back the layers of each character, allowing the reader to understand the how's and why's of their actions. The story is complicated, but never confusing...which is what I loved about it. You can totally understand the motives of the characters, whether you agreed with their actions or not. Nicely written, held my attention from beginning to end. I recommend that you read it for yourself!

I received this book through the early reviewer giveaway and I really enjoyed this book. It started off with a bang and kept my interest the whole book. The main characters were Misa, Toya, Camille, and Dominique, friends who were similiar to that Waiting to Exhale bunch of ladies. Each with their own drama but still having an abiding love for their girlfriends. The book immediately starts with Misa shooting her brother-in-law, Steven Bingham. Then we starting learning of how all the characters were connected, the secrets the girlfriends were too ashamed to share with each other and the drama going on in their respective lives. With out giving away any of the plot, I truly enjoyed the fact that the author kept a great pace with her story telling. It wasn't all over the place and she kept her focus on the main characters. I didn't read the first book, nor am I sure that I am going to. But I see that she left room for a possible 3rd story and I would most certainly read that. There was unfinished business that I would love the author to explore further. If you enjoyed the friendship angle in Waiting to Exhale, you will enjoy this story as well. This plot was definitely more urban and darker but it wasn't full of bad language or needless sex scenes. The focus was on each woman coming to terms with the decisions they have been making in their lives and how to make better choices.

I enjoyed this book on tape. Actually giggled aloud a couple times. I rarely give a 4 star but I think this deserves it. I only wish the family crime part was more thorough. Not sure exactly what the crime they were into. Worth everyone picking up.

I really enjoyed this book. It kept me reading straight through. Misa, Toya, Camille, and Dominique are all friends, who end up going through life changing events and are truly there for each other as friends. Starts off with Misa finding out her son had been sodomized by Camille's brother in law, when she finds out what has happened to her son, she murder's Camilles Brother in law, Camille goes through her husband cheating, her own pregnancy, dealing with her nephew being sodomized, her sister murdering her brother in law and her sisters trial. Toya finds love where she never thought she would as does Dominique. In amongst all this caos they remain friends and support each other. Definatley an interesting read and keeps you turning the pages.

This book I found hard to get into. Then when I got to page 158, my copy jumps to page 207. Somehow 50 pages of the book are missing. Not very professional if you ask me.

This is my first time reading Tracy Brown and I have to say she did not disappoint me. I really didn't know if this book was going to be a mystery, thriller, suspense or a Christian book. There was thrills and suspense and sex. Aftermath also has some Christian content but not an overwhelming amount. Just some comments like some one saying a prayer and forgiving someone for their past. I felt it was portrayed in a pleasing way and not over bearing.Aftermath is the story of Misa, Camille, Toya, and Dominique. Misa and Camille are sisters and Toya and Dominique are their friends. The story opens with Camille coming home to her house and knowing something isn't right. Her sister's car is there and yet all the lights are off. When she walks into the kitchen she sees her brother-in-law on the floor in a pool of blood. Camille goes looking for her sister thinking and worrying that the person who did this could still be in the house. When she finds her sister she is surprised to see her covered in blood and realizes that her sister shot her brother-in-law (BIL).The story mainly focuses around Misa's crime and how it has affected everyone from her family to her friends. Her sister's marriage is in shambles and the death of Steven (BIL), does not help. Toya and Dominique have their own demons and problems they are dealing with. All find strength from each other and grow during this novel. As I was reading Aftermath I was able to bring some of the story into my own life. My marriage is going through a similar one as Camille's. I related well to her as being hurt by a cheating husband. I was also able to relate to Misa and wanting to kill Steven from a mothers point of view. Toya and Dominique were two that I related to as some of my friends in real life. Being there to help me when I feel sad or hurt. Aftermath shows you how having family and friends and god in your life can help you through the rough spots of your life. Family and friends are there to support you and comfort you. The language is at times vulgar, yet I know how sometimes people will talk when they are angry, frustrated, hurt etc. I was able to picture the women talking and the gestures they would use or even their facial features.

Aftermath: A Snapped Novel by Tracy Brown is an interesting study of a number of women and the emotions they feel as they deal with the situations life has thrown at them (and situations they have created based upon choices they've made). I did not read Snapped, the first book in the series, and it was tough to keep track of the various characters because the viewpoint moves back and forth quickly. If you've read Snapped, then you probably won't struggle at the beginning as I did. Once you become acquainted with the characters -- Misa, Camille, Frankie, Latoya, Dominique & Octavia -- you can laugh and cry with them, and appreciate the bonds that tie them together.
