    In December 1909 the Reverend Joshia Martins expires in a dish of mutton and onions leaving his family on the brink of destitution. Joshia's daughter, Euphemia, enters service to provide for her mother and little brother. She is young and fit and assumes the life of a maid won't be too demanding.     Caroline Dunford

    Caroline Dunford has previously worked as a psychotherapist, a journalist and a non-fiction author. She has a deep love of story, which she believes is at the heart of human nature. She first declared, at five years old, that she wanted to be a writer but was told there was little options of it being a full time job. Undeterred, she started writing short stories, plays and mini novels. She became known for writing plays at primary school including casting and directing the performances.

      Finally, I’ve found a brilliant new series!
      It took me 2 evenings of browsing to find this gem. I’m a huge fan of T.E Kinsley and Frances brody who are both brilliant story tellers for a bygone era and trying to find something along those lines that is not written by an American has been a challenge. This story was well written with a great plot and a very likeable lead character. The story draws you in and I was hooked from start to end.
      It ticked along at a good pace and doesn’t reveal too much until nearer the end. Very much looking forward the next. Definitely a fan of this series and highly recommend.
      (Also the narrator did a great job, very easy to listen to).
