About this ebook

Written by Scribd Editors

There are six things very wrong with my life:

  1. I have one of those under-the-skin spots that will never come to a head but lurk in a red way for the next two years.
  2. It is on my nose.
  3. I have a three-year-old sister who may have peed somewhere in my room.
  4. In fourteen days, the summer hols will be over and then it will be back to Stalag 14 and Oberfuhrer Frau Simpson and her bunch of sadistic teachers.
  5. I am very ugly and need to go into an ugly home.
  6. I went to a party dressed as a stuffed olive.

Georgia Nicolson is a teenage girl with a lot on her plate. Her dad has the mentality of a Teletubby and her labrador-sized cat, Angus, is trying to eat the poodle next door. To top it all off, she’s just shaved off her eyebrows by accident.

Angus, Thongs and Full-Frontal Snogging is the diary of fictional Georgia as she navigates the ups and downs of life as a teenager. Written by bestselling author Louise Rennison, this book is a hilarious and irreverent reminder of the awkwardness of those teen years.

I could see the appeal but I thought it could be funnier. Or less self-centered.

I read the Georgia Nicolson books back in high school and they are still as hilarious today as they were then. I absolutely love this entire series. The situations that Georgia finds herself in as she grows up and enters the world of dating are at the same time ridiculously implausible and somehow very similar to the experiences we all had at this age. I literally laughed out loud with every page.

This book is like Bridget Jones' diary 16 years prior. It's a nice homage to 14 year old girls every where or any woman who remembers what it's like to be at such an awkward stage. It doesn't matter that Georgia is British. Her Britishness actually adds to her charm. Any woman or teen girl can identify with Georgia and her friends. All girls worry about snogging or kissing. All girls worry about their skin and makeup or what they're going to wear at that life changing party. It's all part of going through adolescence and crosses cultural boundaries. Georgia, her friends and her cat Angus are hilarious. They make me glad that I survived those years with my sanity in tack. I highly recommend this for any teen girl or even woman in need of a good laugh.

I really enjoyed this book! I don't have much to stay about it as it's not very deep or anything but it was really fun to read. Georgia's voice is very distinctive and her diary entries are very witty. I loved her over dramatic reactions to her life. I read this in one sitting and really liked it. It was a very light and amusing read and I'm looking forward to reading the second in the series.

Brigit Jones meets Adrian Mole. Teen diary that is silly, funny, in some places witty and in others almost slapstick hilarious. All in all a pretty authentic voice of a wisecracking teen girl who is worried her nose isn't attractive enough and is certain her parents are stupid and possibly insane. I chuckled in places and found Georgia fairly charming. Her little sister even more so.

Got a little bored with the boy crazedness, yeah I know teenage girls are boy crazed, but would have liked her to have at least one other thing she was occasionally interested in. Still, it was a pretty good laugh most of the way through.

My life as a teenager was nothing like Georgia Nicholson's. I never got in trouble at school, I never shaved my eyebrows off, I wasn't allowed to go to parties, and I didn't keep a wild cat named Angus around my house. That's why it was so fun reading the private diary of Georgia in Angus, Thongs and Full-Frontal Snogging. This fictional British teenager has tons of drama and unfortunate events to go around. From stalking her older crush's girlfriend to seeking the help of a "professional kisser," Georgia can't help but find trouble wherever she goes. I had always seen this book around when I was a kid, but I never read it. I'm so glad I finally did! It was definitely laugh-out-loud funny. Will I read the next books in this series? It's not a priority but the next time I want a quick and funny read, I'll be sure to consider it.

This book is one of my favorites from the series. This series is about a girl named Georgia growing up in England who tells stories through her journal. This book is hilarious and at some points I even found my self laughing out loud! The main character Georgia is hilarious even when she doesn't mean to be. This book is a very relatable book and is great for tweens to teens. I found that as the series continues the plot developed and became more complicated. Also the series is one big story broken up into ten different books so I would definitely recommend reading the entire series. I would also recommend this book to anyone looking for a fun, quick and light read.

Funny, irreverent, light, and entertaining. Georgia, the spunky main character is often self-centered and dramatic, and says the kinds of things a lot teens (and maybe adults, too?) might feel but wouldn't admit to. Her hilarious misfortunes (like accidentally shaving off her eyebrows) are endearing. It's very much like a younger Bridget Jones--especially b/c of the diary format.

Hilarious laugh out loud funny, a little worrisome considering the ages of the characters in light of the events but entertaining nonetheless.

In journal format, Louise Rennison channels the thoughts and describes the goings-on of a very funny, and very believable 14-year old English schoolgirl. Though the book is nearly 13 years old, it still works as contemporary fiction (though there are references to the ‘90s TV show Xena, The Warrior Princess). The humor holds up very nicely in 2012, even for older women. Georgia has a cat, Angus, that’s part wild beast (her mother says if he gets any larger she’ll put him in a zoo) that reminds me of an attack cat I had for 18 years. Georgia is filled with 14-year old angst that should reassure (or at least amuse) any young female readers who worry about their imperfections, their family, their friends, their love life—and maybe even their teachers—that all anxiety is normal. Georgia falls hard for 17-year-old Robbie (the "Sex God"—though all they ever do is kiss). Her “I love him; I hate him” entries are very believable. In addition to her writing, Georgia’s ability to laugh hard at a variety of events—some of them completely random and not always THAT funny—is another example of authentic, teenage behavior coming through. Another bit of authenticity is the quick way she gets annoyed with her close friends, and forgives them on a dime. I’m curious to see if she matures during the rest of the series. Target audience ages 13-17.

14-year-old Georgia Nicolson's diary is filled with boy talk, clothing choices, disastrous haircuts, annoying parents, and a savage wildcat called Angus whose big dream in life is to eat the neighbor's Poodle. I expected a rather silly YA novel about a whiny teenager's life, but this is surprisingly cute and Georgia is so much funnier than anyone else I've read in a while - she's like a young Bridget Jones (sans the alcohol, obviously).

I usually write fairly decent reviews for books, but there just isn't much to say about this one. It's an average, albeit cute, YA adult novel. If it didn't have the British flair that it has, it would probably be far more forgettable as I'm sure there are a plethora of "diary-style" books on the market for teens to read. I remember loving these books when I was a teenager myself, but as an adult I don't get the same feeling for it as I once did. Though, now I see it more as a teen version of Bridget Jones' Diary which is a book I continue to love over the years. I imagine most young teen girls would enjoy this book and the rest of the series. Three stars.

Angus, Thongs and Full-Frontal Snogging is a book about a British 14 year old girl, Georgia, who's obsessed with the latest fashions and of course boys. Angus is her cat and he's a beast. Her dad is crazy and her mom wears to tight of clothes. Her friends are strange also. Her best friend is Jas and Jas finds a guy in a shop and his name is Tom. When Georgia sees Tom at the shop she also meets Robbie, aka the "sex god". But he's 16! But they date anyways. Georgia also has a little sister that is crazy. This first book is about Georgia wanting her first kiss and she takes kissing lessons. But through this book Georgia ends up shaving her eyebrow off because of her sister and she ends up with Robbie. This book is really funny and interesting. You never want to put this book down because it's full of drama and snogging. Georgia is a very funny but strange at times girl. I really like this book. I have read the entire series of the Confessions of Georgia Nicolson and i wish they would go on and on. It's full of gasps and funny moments that you would just laugh out loud in the silence and your classmates would look at you like you're crazy. It's not an inspirational book, it's more like a funny joke. This series is more like a chick flick. I love this book and highly suggest you read this book if your into comedy

In the beginning of this book Angus thought her life was the worst. She thought her parents and her friends hated her. All she wanted was a boyfriend who she could make out with. Her and her friends went back to school after the long summer and saw these two "gorgeous" guys. These guys were in there grade. Sense there was only two guys and four girls, they had to decide on who got the boys. Angus and her new boyfriend made out a lot. They loved seeing each other. This book was on okay book. It is not a book for middle school students. It had a lot of making out. I also liked it because, the book had a lot of details. This book made me laugh at times. This book also made me confused. I do recommend this book to kids who ask for there parents permission first. I gave this book a 4 star rating because of all the making out and sexual contact.

I liked it and will probably read the other books in the series eventually. But to be honest I'm about as American as they come. And that means that this was not NEARLY as funny as it might be if I spoke the same language as British people! I liked Georgia's cousin Tallulah's book 'Withering Tights' better, because for some reason it was sweeter to me.

The diary of fourteen-year-old Georgia Nicolson is a hilarious romp through the things that are going so wrong in her teenage life. From the escapades of her cat Angus, a mixed-breed, half Scottish wildcat, who is constantly stalking the neighbours poodle, to accidently shaving off her eyebrows, coping with a little sister who leaves used diapers in her bed, taking lessons in how to kiss properly and lusting after the local Sex God this is going to be an interesting year for Georgia. It’s great to find a funny book in the teen’s section! Very amusing.

This is very light hearted and fun. Georgia is the high school girl inside of us screaming to get out, obsessed with boys and worried about whether or not your boobs will ever get big enough. So of course this is more for girls, but curious boys may enjoy it as well! The diary format makes for a quick read, too.

Angus, thongs, and Full Frontal Snogging is written as the diary of fourteen year old Georgia Nicolson. Georgia thinks of herself as ugly and awkward. She is constantly being bothered by someone or something, whether it be her sweet yet sometimes annoying younger sister, her strange cousin, or the pimple that appeared when she woke up that morning. Georgia's diary is full of humor and stories that any adolescent or young adult can relate to.I think young adult readers, especially girls, would really enjoy this book. Georgia faces some of the same issues that all adolescents deal with. She is becoming her own person and figuring out how to become more than just an awkward teenager.I really enjoyed reading this book. I think Georgia's perspective on life is funny and very interesting. I can remember being that awkward and unsure of myself at that age, and the way Georgia describes events kept me very interested.

When I read Feeling Sorry for Celia, I loved it. I wanted to read more like it. Someone recommended this series to me, and I am so glad! The book is Georgia's hilarious journal. It is honest and wise and quite funny. Georgia is inventive and always looking for fun. She is a lovable protagonist with spirit and spunk!Though not much of a plot, the novel moves quickly. It is fast paced and there is never a dull moment in the Nicoloson house! For those Canadian and Americans there is a glossary of British words at the back that is actually quite interesting to see.For those who are interested, there are 10 books in the series. The author is Louise Rennison and I highly recommend you give these books a go!

Angus, Thongs and Full-Frontal Snogging is one of those books that I would not be able to read in public. Why? Well because I spent the majority of the book laughing so hard that tears were streaming out the corner of my eyes. Georgia Nicolson is fabulous! The perfect mixture of snarky and sweet, Georgia shines off the page and will capture the attention of anyone who cares to read about her insane life.Written in the form of Georgia's journal, this book is all stream of consciousness and 100% hilarious. We see into her thoughts on boys, her parents, and her circle of friends. Like all girls at the age of 14, most of Georgia's writing inspiration comes from finding where she fits in the world of relationships. When she was ruminating over her first kiss, and tried to test it by kissing her hand, I laughed out loud! I will fully admit that I remember doing that. Each word on the page just made me love Georgia more and more. I'm hooked.A "coming of age" story at it's heart, this is a perfect book for adolescent girls. Georgia is easy to connect with, and she goes through a lot of the same issues that they will be dealing with. I'm still not entirely sure whether this book would be considered MG or YA, although it does deal with a lot of topics that put it on that line. I think it is more the type of book that a parent would read first, then decide whether their child was ready for it!Let's be honest. I loved this book so much that I cannot even put my words into coherent sentences. Did you know that there are more? I just found that out! More Georgia? I can't wait! I recommend this book with all my heart. If you haven't yet read it, give it a try. Just be prepared to laugh until your sides hurt. You've been warned.

I enjoyed the series of Georgia Nicolson's adventures. "Angus, Thongs and Full-Frontal Snogging: Confessions of Georgia Nicolson" is the first of the 10 diary-entry written series novels. In this "episode" we learn about Georgia and her little sister, Libby, and her parents. Throughout the book we meet characters like her best friends, her worst enemies, school teachers and all those boys that drive her into a frenzy of confusion. The life of a 14-year old written with great humor and never ending drama that comes with being an awkward teenager. It won the Nestlé Smarties Book Prize Bronze Award, was shortlisted for the Branford Boase Award and was voted #127 in the BBC's Big Read poll to find the UK's favourite book. It was also named a Printz Honor book in 2001.

Jackie looked a bit puzzled (who wouldn't?) but she kept coming nearer and suddenly with a yell I grabbed her arm and twisted it right up her back. I don't know how. But I was doing it for the little people everywhere (I don't mean dwarfs--i just mean, you know, vulnerable people)." (p. 205)

An amusing book. But still nothing compares to Adrian Mole for fictional teenage diary. I found the girl a little flouncy but then that's what you are at that age if your a girly girl.
