    Me Lead?

    Being a leader isn’t easy. Remember Moses? When God called him at the burning bush in Exodus 3, what did Moses do? He offered every excuse in the book to get out of it.

    But God knew better. He knew not only what Moses was—a failed deliverer of Israel who was now herding sheep—but what Moses would become—one of the greatest leaders in history. Moses had the right stuff.

    Leading with Style

    You might think, I DON’T HAVE THE RIGHT SKILLS! I can’t even talk in front of a group.

    Everyone finds these things difficult at first. It’s a matter of trying them and not giving up when things get tough.

    I think of Paco. Not someone you’d immediately consider a leader, he still attended the usual youth group functions. On an overnight retreat in which several non-Christians were invited by their Christian friends, the groups all went out hiking. They left their food near their tents. When they returned an animal had gotten into their food, and one of the groups had nothing left to eat or drink. No one had brought very much food for the brief trip, and there wasn’t a way to get more. Paco asked his group if they’d like to share. They agreed.

    GOD DOESN’T CHOOSE GREAT LEADERS. HE CHOOSES GOOD PEOPLE WHOM HE MAKES INTO GREAT LEADERS.

    Paco and his youth group approached the other group and offered to share their food. As they ate and talked, the boys all became friends. At the end of the retreat, one of the visitors thanked Paco,
