Reviews for Interior Decorating on the Cheap!
1 rating1 review
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5There is some information useful if you've never decorated a space before. However, this book seems very homemade with many typos and blurry pictures. When I read a book about decor, I want to be inspired by photos that help my brain start to see the possibilities, and this book does none of that. Glad it was free through Scribd. If I had paid for it I would feel that I'd wasted my money.

INTRODUCTION
Interior Decorating on the Cheap...
What’s in a name? Everything!
A lot of the décor’ tricks you’ll learn will literally come from items that require rejuvenation, along with ideas of color and everything in between. Simplicity is what literally cuts design costs.
U.S. divides populations into categories...
There are about six tiers to any society or nation...
The Rich
The Wealthy
The Working Middle Class
The Above Working Poverty Level
The Working Poverty Level
The Below Poverty Level
Only two of these groups would probably find no real value from this book everyone else; and you know who you are! I’M JUST SAY’N!
All others will find great ideas about restructuring and complimenting a space, but the best part will be accomplishing it below or at cost.
The wealthy have their own elaborate styles that many cannot afford to even attempt to duplicate; however it shouldn’t stop us from getting a little taste of the pie minus the price!
During the course of our design adventure you’ll find that I love humor, I love with the heart, and I love passion. And I hope this book will inspire passion for your projects as well.
My goal is to teach you how to open your mind to possibilities; minimize spending and excite!
Watching many of the currently aired design shows...
Techniques tend to be long and drawn out and it makes me crazy!
From color choices to the accessories; for me they overwhelm me by making things so complicated.
Designing a space can be a snap if the right questions, choices, and homework have been done before hand.
Are You Ready? Let’s Get Started!
Décor Preamble
If you’re in scout mode for a rental or maybe you’re a first time home buyer; the first thought that should come to mind would be how long my accommodations can sustain me and perhaps a growing family.
Today’s economics no longer supports a constant flow of change in address, so we must think logically and prep more efficiently. Many potential renters as well as homeowners make critical decisions based upon the now and not the unexpected, and this is where big trouble can begin. Decisions made wisely beforehand to include growth, income changes, upkeep and resale value, will offer greater tranquility for your wellbeing and enjoyment of your home, for a much longer period than a choice made from haste...
Ever entered a room and saw what seemed like hundreds of books or items that cover somewhat every inch of space available?
Maybe you’ve seen collectables that impeded on the décor; or another example mixed and matched furnishings? A room over run with things that should demand its own environment like exercise equipment or a computer. And then there’s the home office which found its way at the dining table. This happens partly due to space and budget, but it can be tamed by taking steps to analyze what’s truly essential.
So often a room takes on the dweller’s ever changing task of finding space. We cram, stack it, shove it and even sprawl it to find a home for items we acquire.
The reason behind it all; we see, we like, we place, never once considering room size its color scheme or décor. Decorating is just like weight gain, it’s never noticed because you see it every day and it doesn’t affect you until you can’t fit anymore.
Many times family relationships suffer due to lack of space; and though at times it seemly is a small matter, it has torn apart many a homes.
Less Is More? Not in my Book, and it shouldn’t be in yours...
Many realtors have incorporated the sales pitch; less is more.
No matter how quaint a dwelling is or its location, space must take top priority when considering real-estate possibilities. If you’re single now; always keep in mind the chance of a significant other or an unexpected child. Life happens, and you never know what it may throw your way. These are not the times of our parents when the man was the dominant bread winner, having cash and credit in hand to finance major purchases.
Women today though we’re holding our own, must step up to the plate to include in our arsenal bold self-reliant practices in order to have a more comfortable life.
There are several stages we must adhere to before a true decision should be considered viable.
The pre-planning stage...
The type of decision needed to achieve an outcome.
What items must be included or excluded to reach the decision.
What’s the time line factor?
What monetary factors are needed to achieve the goal?
The Search Stage,
With plans in hand; what will it take to achieve the desired outcome? Your search should have been narrowed to include items that are tailored to your pre-planned criteria. In other words you won’t go shopping for a Rolls Royce when the budget is more suited towards a Honda.
The Final Stage,
Within every aspect of life, thoughts must travel full circle to include the pros and cons of what life offers as stepping stones or road blocks, to arrive at success. Using resources
