This is a book I'm going to file away to come back to later after revisions. The lack of editing was so distracting that I couldn't make it past the first chapter. I'll try again later because this seems like a story I'll like, but for now my rating reflects my opinion.

she was raped repeatedly and she was more messed up from her mom saying she was ugly than anything else!!! it was sweet sure but it seemed like they made little of what a big issue this was! she siding go to therapy even after being pumped out and she was simply fixed from the love of her family I guess that's possible but also very unrealistic. her mother still called so either they siding get a court order or they siding in force it. what's dumb though is that the mother easing in jail for verbail abuse, alsult and prostitution of a minor. there were a lot of grammer mistakes and I found it quite shallow.

Emily and her father move to a new town. After being mistreated by her mother, Emily feels unworthy and hopes to be ignored. She is paired with hockey star Jake Benson on a class assignment. Jake is intrigued by Emily and wants to discover more about her and make her realize that she is special. I love that Jake saw something in Emily and wanted to get to know her better. Having a difficult life himself, he notices Emily’s odd reactions and wants to help her. Jake has a good heart. He takes care of his little brother, Drake, because his father doesn’t. He is responsible and caring. My heart went out to Emily. Her mother put her through hell, doing some serious damage. I was glad her father rescued her from her situation, and that she befriended Jake and Drake. She is brave and honorable. After what she went through, she deserves good things to happen to her. Unfortunately, some not so pleasant events continue to plague her. At least this time around she has a better support system. Drake is such a sweet little brother. It is easy to understand how Emily could become attached to him. He makes her comfortable and able to laugh. Sweetness is a heartwarming story. Lindsay Paige did a wonderful job with every aspect of this story. The plot is realistic and touching. The characters are well-developed and convincing. I just fell in love with Emily, Jake and Drake. I became so invested in them; I have no choice but to continue reading the series to see how their lives evolve. I didn’t want the story to end, and I am relieved that the book is the star of a series.

Lindsay Paige has written a terrific young adult romance novel, the characters are well developed and the storyline is excellent and Lindsay Paige is on her way to be one fantastic author.

This is a story of two young adults Emily and Jake, Emily is quite and hardly say’s a word to anyone, she can’t even bring herself to look people in the eye. Emily has suffered and has very low self esteem due to abuse from her mother. Jake is good looking, play’s hockey and takes care of his little brother. He has become a parent way to early but knows his father is still grieving the loss of his wife. In class Jake and Emily are assigned partners for a class project. Jake figures this is a perfect way to get to know Emily and help bring her out of her shell. When Jake and Drake go over to Emily’s to work on their project Jake cannot get over the how different Emily is when talking to Drake. Drake and Emily instantly form a friendship....Jake sees her smile and laugh for the very first time, he even is a bit envious of his little brother.

Jake and Emily continue to work on their friendship and realize they both have feeling for each other but nothing is easy and face a few struggles...can they trust each other and be there for one another?

This is a fantastic read, even though is a fast read, the author brings to light some very important topics, you fall in love with Emily, Jake and especially little brother Drake.

This is an excellent story and I would recommend anyone who loves YA Romance Novels you I suggest you purchase this entire series.

Really good book! I just wish it was longer! Even though it was really short it was still super sweet and completely surprising! Emily's parents get divorced and her mom blamed her for everything. Her mom turned to drugs and alcohol but to get those she pimped her own daughter, Emily, out! She emotionally abused Emily as well by telling her she was ugly and unimportant. Anyway she meets Jake and his littl ebrother drake. Their father is an alcoholic (ever since their mother died of cancer)... but jake and emily fall in love:)

Originally posted on Lovey Dovey BooksLindsay Paige's debut and first book in the Bold as Love Series, Sweetness, is indeed a sweet story. Sweetness flows at a fast pace in which readers are introduced to Emily and Jake right at the start. There's background information on both characters, but it's not an overload. There isn't a detailed description of Emily's background, but only a mention of a secret past while setting the scene of her present. It's very clear how distinctly different Emily and Jake are from each other. Emily is a quiet soul always looking to be alone. Jake is outgoing, athletic, and determined to transform Emily back into the girl she once was. Their pairing for a school assignment was a little predictable, but the way Paige handled their coming together was unique. It took a little coaxing from Jake and Emily's father, but once they realized her old light shining through because of Jake's younger brother, Drake, they were able to bring joy and happiness back to her eyes. The trouble I found reading Sweetness was the implication that Jake and Emily had extremely difficult lives without really reading the hows and whys. I found the execution of some scenes lacking dept, clarity and tact, which is probably why the story is on the short side. For instance, when Emily told Jake a little of the hard time with her mom, the explanation felt one toned and she downplayed the seriousness of her mother's verbal abuse. Jake's father is an alcoholic, leaving Jake to take care of everything and his little brother, but what makes his situation so different from the many other characters who have similar situations in other novels? How did he deal with his semi-absentee father and Emily's trauma all in the same breath?I appreciate the message that Paige may have been trying to convey: love conquers all, but the themes in Sweetness were too big to fit in this high school romance story.

Sweetness is a fantastic book. Emily was a shy girl completely in her shell, wouldn’t make eye contact with anyone and barely speak. Jake on the other hand was the complete opposite of her although both of them had bad pasts. The book is quite emotional in places and romantic and a lot of turmoil too.I liked seeing Emily come out of that awful shell she had herself in, and that Jake was the person to help her through it. With him having problems too it kind of makes sense why they are great together.I read this book in about two hours it is only about 38390 words so a great book if you want to read something quick. I couldn’t put it down!I was sad, happy, worried, all of those and probably more when reading Sweetness. I like a good romance and young adult genres so it was the perfect book for me to read.Sweetness was really well written and detailed. I absolutely loved reading it.
