About this ebook

Early in her life, Josephine Malone learned the hard way that there was only one person she could love and trust: her grandmother, Lydia Malone. Out of necessity, unconsciously and very successfully, Josephine donned a disguise to keep all others at bay. She led a globetrotting lifestyle on the fringes of the fashion and music elite, but she kept herself distant.

While Josephine was trotting the globe, retired boxer Jake Spear was living in the same small town as Lydia. There was nothing disguised about Jake. Including the fact he made a habit of making very bad decisions about who to give his love.

But for Josephine and Jake, there was one person who adored them. One person who knew how to lead them to happiness. And one person who was intent on doing it.

Even if she had to do it as her final wish on this earth.

Kristen Ashley

Kristen Ashley grew up in Brownsburg, Indiana but has lived in Denver, Colorado and the West Country of England. Thus she has been blessed to have friends and family around the globe. Her posse is loopy (to say the least) but loopy is good when you want to write.Kristen was raised in a house with a large and multi-generational family. They lived on a very small farm in a small town in the heartland and existed amongst the strains of Glenn Miller, The Everly Brothers, REO Speedwagon and Whitesnake (and the wardrobes that matched).Needless to say, growing up in a house full of music, clothes and love was a good way to grow up.And as she keeps growing up, it keeps getting better.

Another great story from one of my favourite authors. Kristen Ashley is my automatic one click author, my go to author when I need a pick-me-up, the author who I know will pull me in to her characters world and leave me wishing I lived there.

I loved these characters and I loved the story. KA really knows how to write kids in her story's and she nailed it with Jake's kids. With KA you know you are in for a nice long read and we are spared no detail in The Will. All characters have their place and are a valuable addition to the storyline.

Jake was Josie's knight in shining armor. He exemplified a loving partner, doing everything in his power to make his woman feel happy, safe and supremely loved. And when I say supremely loved I mean supremely. The way he cared for Josie, the way he fell in love with her and the way he loved and protected her.......I fell for Jake hard.

I also loved Josie and all her idiosyncrasies, the way she took to Jake's kids, and the way she let down her walls and let Jake in. I loved Josie's relationship with her Gran. It was what everyone dreams of having with their Gran. My Gran was just as loving and protective of my sister and I, and this story kept bringing back fond memories of my own time at my Gran's place.

As with Rock Chick 1 the only thing I had a slight problem with was the dialogue in places. I just found it a bit hard to read but then it depends where you live in this world as to how you speak so I'm not getting too fussed about it but it is why I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars.

This is the first in a new series set in Magdalene and I am looking forward to book #2.

I loved this book. The female lead is quirky and I found her to be very likable. The male lead is a nice balance to her prim and proper "disguise". It did take some time for me to get used to reading the dialect used by the female lead, but once I did I actually found it amusing and charming.
For a book based in a time of sadness, it was an unexpectedly light read. The "drama" wasn't overwhelming and the way issues were talked through instead of blown out of proportion was refreshing in a romance read.

The speech affectation of Josie, the main character, made this book an irritating read - I've never seen the word "alas" used 100 times by the same character in a book before and it was not welcome. It also felt weird reading the sex scenes, like she was some kind of naive alien that was being taken advantage of. That's not how rich people talk, that's not how ANYONE talks. In general, the language used in this book was problematic - the friend talks graphically and yuckily about arousal, the love interest swears like a sailor in front of his kids, and the word "babe" is ubiquitous no matter if you're talking to woman you just met, daughter, or wife. Apparently, everyone who meets Josie adores her, but I just wanted to throw her off a cliff.

Another very fine piece of writing coming from KA. Loved the characters, the setting and the slightly out of the norm plot. Jack and Josie had first a beautiful friendship that went on to become a more beautiful romance, which included some pretty sexy and hot sex and plenty of cute and sad and flat out heartbreaking scenes between them and Con, Amber and awesomely cute Ethan. I can't wait to hear more about this very intriguing town of Magdalene and its surprises.

    So excited

The Will, the start of a three-part series called the Magdalene Series, will be released in April 2014.

    Jake is a boxer........

KA says "wait until you meet Jake and Josephine. Jake is the…absolute…bomb and Josephine is so damned funny, I haven’t laughed that hard writing a book since Rock Chick Revolution. Can’t wait for you to meet them!"
