No one, they warn, is out of their reach—not even the president. A joint FBI-CIA task force reveals the killers are elite military commandos, but no one knows exactly who they are or when they will strike next. Powerful Washington politicians are being assassinated in ways that only the highly skilled professional assassinators could accomplish. Freshman congressman, Michael O'Rourke is caught in the crossfire. This is one of those books you pick up and the next thing you know you are halfway through the book and so sucked up in the story that you join the characters. This is Flynn's first book and, thankfully, the second is already in print. I'm off to get a copy!

Published in 1997, yet eerily relevant in 2020, Term Limits is a must read! The book sets up the world that Mitch Rapp operates in, and introduces us to many characters who play significant roles throughout the Rapp Saga.

Vince Flynn reads alot like Baldacci in my mind. Great action, suspense, detail-oriented and often with thought-provoking political intrigue. Really well written.

How do D.C. politics work? Reading this book will give you a pretty good idea, you get the feeling you are privy to an insider look at the U.S. political machine. Partisan politics and the budget are the antagonists in this story. There is plenty of action and political intrigue for die hard fans, with a plot that is interesting although void of a major plot twist. Did I figure out the whodunit? Yes, but I was taken there by way of a thrilling tale!

My first Vince Flynn novel and I went in expecting high energy, politics, espionage, and more. Well I definitely got my money's worth. Not only did each page keep me wanting to read further without end but I was constantly trying to predict how Flynn would end things especially when you saw how screwed up everything was and to think there want any fix in sight. I'm definitely adding more Vince Flynn books to my list.

Great action, suspense with political intrigue. The major politicos were narcissistic and self-aggrandizing -- all believed their own view of the world to be correct. Yep, just like the real world! This scenario; however, is chilling--three politicians murdered and the rest held ransom to the budget. The budget? You gotta be ralphin' me. This whole story revolves around pork. Really? Could our leadership really be held hostage? It was a fun read/listen and I think that I'll try some more Vince Flynn.

In our current political climate, it is hard to read a book that characterizes our politicians so harshly. Yes, parts of it ring true, but it feels like it was written by a conspiracy theorist NRA gun nut. It very accurately presents the view that Donald Trump would like us to have of folks that run our government.

A fast-paced novel filled with action. Mr. Flynn does not disappoint. I recently stumbled on Vince Flynn and have been quite impressed with his books. Easy to read with characters that are developed just enough, he takes the reader on a ride that is so far-fetched, yet seems so plausible at the same time.

This was my first Vince Flynn book. I was looking for a hole to fill Tom Clancy's place and I am disappointed to say that this is not going to completely do the job. The plot is decent, but it misses some opportunities late to really expand on things and surprise the reader. The writing is sub-par and technical details don't seem as accurate and well researched as in Clancy's work.I'm not completely turned off by Flynn, but I am disappointed. I'll probably try another few books and see if they get better from here.

This was my first Vince Flynn book to read. It got me hook and I have read all the other books by Vince Flynn. My review for each of Flynn's books would probably be the same as for this one. I enjoy the theme and "super heroism" of Mitch Rapp. Each one of Flynn's books goes into further detail of the operative, Mitch Rapp, and the other characters and organizations portrayed. The characters are well developed and their personalities are consistent from one novel to the next.

It wasn't long before I developed a visceral hatred for this book. If I put its politics aside, at best this is yet another silly, not very well written thriller. With the politics... In one night, United States Senator Daniel Fitzgerald, Senator Robert Down and powerful congressional leader Jack Koslowski are assassinated. From the description of each, it's clear the first is supposed to be Senator Edward Kennedy (or maybe Daniel Moynihan) the second Robert Dole, and the third Dan Rostenkowski. (The book was published in 1997) The next day the demands of the assassins are delivered to a major network. Among the demands are a balanced budget with no new or raised taxes and means-testing medicare and social security. In other words, the Tea Party Agenda--which by the way I'm actually sympathetic to. (Quaint, and scary, that the horror scenario of the book is a debt of a mere 5 trillion.) If their demands are not met, more will be killed and they promise not even the (very Clintonesque) president will be safe. So, what's the reaction of our "hero" ex-marine and Freshman Congressman Michael O'Rourke? He considers the murdered men "scum" and calls those that slew them "freedom fighters." I kid you not. Flynn lost me right there. Do I really have to spell it out? Because I could rant for pages. Look, I'm right of center and have been known to enjoy Tom Clancy novels. Flynn according to the wiki was inspired to write the book by The Government Racket: Washington Waste from A to Z, by Martin L. Gross. I'm sympathetic to the cause--really am. But my goodness. I can't enjoy this or take this seriously.

Although this is Flynn's first novel, the themes in the book still resonate today. The story could almost be found in any paper today. I found the book pretty fast paced and kept me hooked until the end.

It may be hard to understand why someone would want to kill to prevent Congress from arguing over the budget deficit, but the current wrangling over health care legislation in Congress right now makes it is easier to imagine Vince Flynn's over-the-top debut coming to life. The unbelievable elements of the story are also overshadowed by the fascinating and realistic detail of what White house meetings must be like, and the creative techniques of the terrorists. This novel may not have been accepted for publication at first because it lacks a true hero/protagonist (No Mitch Rapp here). But the publisher did not realize that with such a compelling high concept story and villains everyone loves to hate, especially Stu Garreet, it doesn't need a hero. It keeps the reader at the edge of his seat, waiting for the inevitable comeuppance; a guilty pleasure.

Polital intrigue in the WA.D.C. Good, but not the best that Flynn has written. Politicians are assinated one right after the other. No one seems out of the reach of their reach - not even the President. It seems the killers are former commando.

Loved it! This book gripped me from the get go and kept me running along with it. It actually surprises me that I like these political stories. I am not a political person at all, but these books seem to interest me. I think it's because it seems so unreal that these things go on, but I'm sure that it's not all that far out there. I'm sure that there is corruption in our government but it makes me wonder just how much. This story follows the good guys and the bad guys through assassinations of prominent congressmen and senators. There are so many different people and agencies involved in trying to track down the killers, that I sometimes found that I had to reread paragraphs just to figure out who was doing what. I'm actually not saying that in a negative way! I liked that there were this many people. It worked. And, as much of a "boy book" this was, there was a woman involved which I thought really added to the story. I'd have liked to have gotten to know her better in this book. The ending to this book normally would have made me mad. It was a little abrupt, but I actually liked it. It just kind of ends with one of the characters walking away. It leaves a little to the imagination even though it's pretty obvious where things go from there.Overall, I liked it a lot and look forward to checking out other books by Flynn.
