His father worked as a carpenter during Richard's younger years so he moved between California, Nevada, and Utah as his family moved to follow construction jobs. Richard enlisted in the Navy at 17 and in which he sserved for 6 years. He spent the next 29 years working in electronics and computer software development.

    Starting a Small Business

    Introduction

    I started my first business when I was 23 and fresh out of the Navy in 1982. In many ways starting a business was much harder back then and many things we take for granted now did not exist at that time. I hope this progress will be something you can use to make your own business successful.

    This manual represents some of the ideas I have developed over the years from my experiences starting my own businesses as well as experiences working for others. Hopefully by following this manual you can avoid making some of the mistakes that I made, especially in my earlier career.
