About this ebook

Jack E. Levin, #1 New York Times bestselling author of George Washington: The Crossing, presents a beautifully designed chronicle—complete with maps, portraits, and other Civil War illustrations—detailing President Abraham Lincoln’s historic Second Inaugural Address.

As humble and faithful as the president who delivered it, Lincoln’s landmark Second Inaugural Address still resonates today. The speech was an attempt to unite a fractured people in a time when our nation was at its most divided, nearing the end of the Civil War. As you navigate this beautiful book, you’ll start to understand the significance and poetic power of this speech while you come closer to the man behind it.

As an added bonus, Jack Levin’s son, #1 New York Times bestselling author Mark Levin, has written an illuminating preface about the importance of Lincoln’s speech and its lasting impact on history. Filled with historic paintings and illustrations from the period, this book is a dramatic rendering of a momentous American occasion.

This is a part of true history, which is forgotten in modern universities and school systems today.. “separation of church and state”??? HA! What a sad joke! Read the truth, and share with your family and friends.

To my beautiful wife, Norma Thank you for sixty-three years of wonderful marriage.

PREFACE

Last year, on my visit to Florida to see my parents, Jack and Norma, I found my father spending a goodly amount of time working at his artist’s easel. It is actually more like a well-worn easel desk. It is located toward the back of their modest but comfortable home in a tranquil area, where the sun shines most of the day and a light breeze can usually be felt through the screened porch. This is where my father has conceived and designed much of his artwork and books during his later years, including his beautiful editions Abraham Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address—Illustrated and George Washington—The Crossing. It is also where he painted his magnificent portrait of President Ronald Reagan, which is displayed prominently today in the Ronald Reagan Library in
