Simon's Cat started as a series of flash videos on YouTube. As anything involving cats on the internet does, Simon's Cat quickly became a thing. Along the way, there came a series of comic books.Simon's Cat in Kitten Chaos by Simon Tofield is the third of the comic books. Simon's cat, who as far as I know, remains unnamed, must now share his home with a new kitten. As anyone who has introduced a kitten to an older singleton cat knows, this process is not easy but is very amusing to watch.Tofield uses sparse black line drawings to full humorous effect to create recognizable and relatable experiences of a cat and a kitten squabbling over the home territory. Except for the back of the book which includes an appendix of how to draw various characters and animals (as these are also a regular segment on the Simon's Cat YouTube challenge), the book is wordless. It's just the cat, the kitten, and their well meaning, albeit somewhat clueless owner.Simon's Cat appeals to any age, to anyone who has cats or knows cats.

The book is shockingly dynamic given the static state of the images. I wasn't too certain how well the amazing YouTube show would translate to a wordless comic book, but it did quite a decent job. The story is linear and episodic, the animals all thrive with large personalities, and it's nearly as cute as the show (it can't be *quite* as cute given the lack of vocalizations and mannerisms).

Simon's Cat books are good but the arrival of a kitten make things even better... My only complain... Too short....

As is typical of Simon's Cat - Kitten Chaos was absolutely hilarious. Simon's simple drawings convey just the right amount of emotion and detail to leave you in stitches.Of course, this could be the cat owner in me saying this, but I'm fairly certain Mr. Tofield has the same cats as I do.

If you haven't watched the Simon's Cat Videos on YouTube before, stop what you're doing right now and go watch them. Seriously go I'll wait. OK so you've watched them and liked them right (I mean how can you not)? Now that you know the basis for the collection you can fully appreciate the cuteness and the awesomeness of what's here. What first looks like standalone comics, actually has a great storyline as we see how the young kitten joined the family. From the very first page you see Simon loves the young kitten and wants it to be a part of the home. The older cat on the other hand...well he takes a bit of time to get used to the new family member, but soon warms up to him. I mean after all there's now one more person to blame things on! You can't help but to love this collection. So pick it up, take it home, and share it with your loved ones. You won't regret it.

I've been a fan of the Simon's Cat videos for a while and was curious to see if the comics held the same charm, so I'm happy to report that they do. This collection is adorable. The drawings are so filled with vigor and the cats' personalities are so strong that it would be hard not to love them and their mischief. (But how can any of us not love kitties, really.) At first I was just flipping through the book, chuckling here and there at antics all cat owners are familiar with, but when I started from the beginning I noticed that there is an actual storyline told through all the vignettes; a story of how Simon's cat learns to put up with, and eventually love, his new young family member. This enlarged context made all the individual comics a little sweeter and, I admit it, my kitty-loving heart burst all over the page. I will definitely be picking up the other collections.

Simon Tolland knows cats. The actions and antics of these two felines are spot on and sure to make you chuckle and make you roll on the floor laughing if you have cats of your own. The drawings are charming, the only fault I could find is that I like the short animations he does better because of the sound effects and the visual effects. A Great treat for ANY cat lover.

Simon's Cat in Kitten Chaos is a fun and funny addition to the library of anyone who loves cats. In fact, it is a great addition for anyone who likes to laugh. I have been a fan of Simon's Cat since I first came across Cat Man Do, a hilarious line drawing video, years ago. In fact, that may still be my favorite video of all. Or maybe it's TV Dinner? No, it is impossible to choose a favorite Simon's Cat video. I have a cat. Well, I have some cats, and so maybe I am more inclined than a non cat person to laugh at the antics that Simon's Cat, and now the Kitten get up to. They are particularly funny when you have seen your own cats pulling the same stunts, and getting into similar situations. Cat lovers know that brining a new kitten into the family is not an easy task, most of the time. There is always a period of time when the first cat is very suspicious of the new kitten, and appalled by its uncivilized behavior. Forgetting, of course their own days of curtain climbing and furniture shredding. Simon Tofield is unsurpassed in bringing these behaviors to light, and presenting them in the most humoress way possible. I will keep this book on the shelf with my keeprs, the books that I know I will read and enjoy again and again. As laugh out loud funny as the video versions of Simon's Cat can be, this hilarious book version is a must have for cat lovers everywhere.

I got this book free from LTER in exchange for a review, which I am happy to do. This adorable, wordless book has an overarching story that will be familiar to anyone who's ever gotten a new kitten... or a new sibling. Simon (the guy) finds the kitten in a box in the rain, brings it home, and tries to make it part of the family. Simon's cat is at first wary of the kitten, then avoids it, then smacks it, then avoids it some more. Eventually the two of them get caught up in playing together -- until they notice, that is! Then they go back to their stand-off. Over time, the cat not only becomes reconciled to the kitten, but teaches it how to be an excellent mischief-maker, and even protects it. This story is sweet and hilarious. Calling it a story is a bit much though, because it's really a series of 1-page cartoons. There is also a page of stickers of the cats in characteristic poses, as well as a section at the end telling you how to draw the cat, the kitten, the guy, and assorted hedgehogs, dogs, mice, and frogs.I think anyone would love this book, especially those who live with cats. Rock on, Simon's Felines!

I will fully admit- when I opened the package and there was this book - I might have squealed a bit in delight. After reading it, I was completely hooked. The first half of the book deals with the introduction of a kitten to Simons Cat. Simon Tofield catches old/new cat introductions perfectly. The second half of the book shows gradual acceptance of the new kitten, as Simon's Cat keeps rescuing him from odd predicaments (Happy Huggy Bunny, for example). By the end, they are true companions, not exactly best friends, but more like a love hate relationship siblings have.I love this book. Its a perfect book for a cat lover - and its not sickly sweet as many other cat books can be. It actually captures a cats personality! Highly recommended!

I received this book through the LibraryThing Early Reviewers Program. If you're a cat lover (or even if you're not), you've likely seen some of the Simon's Cat cartoons on Youtube. They are charming and well-animated, capturing the persistent, loving, and sometimes aggravating nature of the cat, and his well-meaning "owner." This translates remarkably well to book form in Simon's Cat in Kitten Chaos. One word description for the book: adorable.I was impressed by the length of the book; it's 240 pages long. There are no words in the majority of the book, the exception being a small "how to draw" section at the back. This can be read by early readers or people of any language. The behavior of cats is universal. The antics inside show cat meeting kitten, and chaos does indeed ensure. The first section shows the cats indoors, while the end has them in the glorious outside where they encounter all sorts of other animal friends. It's worth it to pause for a while and take in all the details that Tofield weaves into the backgrounds or into the nuances of the animals' behavior. This is the kind of book you need after a bad day. I read it and smiled as I flipped through. I couldn't help it. A few panels even made me laugh out loud.

Adorable and laugh-out-loud funny, as expected. If you're familiar with the Simon's Cat youtube videos, then you know what to expect in this book - and it doesn't disappoint. If you're not familiar with them, check them out! You won't regret it.

The third volume of cartoons featuring YouTube's most famous animated cat, this time joined by a cute but pesky kitten. As usual, they manage to bring some big smiles to my face. Often smiles of rueful recognition, as I know all too well what kind of insanity a new kitten can bring to an already cat-filled house, and Simon Tofield captures that wonderfully. Overall, I liked this one better than the last volume, as there is somewhat less romping around the great outdoors with other, somewhat over-anthropomorphized animals and more of cats just being (slightly exaggerated) cats.

I got a copy of this book to review through Librarything’s Early Reviewer Program. Thanks to Akashic and Librarything for a chance to review this book. This was a super fun and cute read that cat fans of all ages will love. This is the third book released featuring Simon’s Cat. The focus of this book, as the title suggests, is the addition of a new kitten to the household and how exactly Simon’s cat feels about all of that.Simon’s cat started out as a web comic. For those who have followed the web comic, you know there are no words in the cartoons. So there are no words in this book, just the whole series of cartoons. The cartoons start from the acquisition of the new kitten, to later in the year when Simon’s Cat and the kitten are finally working together more. All ages of cat lovers will find this book hilarious. My family and I just got a new kitten a few months ago and so we could relate, first hand, to a lot of the kitten antics that were in here. My six year old son laughed so hard he was almost in tears and my husband and I also found the book to be incredibly funny. As you can imagine this book explore how a kitten can make an older cat’s life very difficult. It also looks out how a kitten and cat can work together to make a human’s life very hectic. As the book goes on there are even dogs, birds, bunnies, and hedgehogs involved. The first portion of the book was the funniest. As the bunnies and hedgehogs got involved my family had a harder time relating to the comics and didn’t find them quite as funny. The final part of the book gives instructions on how you too can draw all of the animals in this book.Overall a very cute and funny read. Highly recommended to all fans of cat humor. The drawings are cute and the antics of the kitten and cat are pretty darn accurate. I really enjoyed this book, it will make a great book to sit on the coffee table to make people laugh.

Simon gently and humorously details what happens when a new kitten is introduced into the houses the resident cat goes from horror at the interloper's arrival to grudging acceptance and finally genuine affection. Superb.
