Simon definitely knows cats. I particularly like the relationship between the hedgehogs and the cats.

Simon's Cat vs. the World by Simon Tofield is a full color comic book staring the Youtube sensation, Simon's Cat. While it's the Youtube videos that are the most popular, I frankly prefer Simon's Cat in print. The cat has everything sorted in his life, that is until Simon brings home a new kitten. Rather than being a series of panels, Simon's Cat vs. the World is a series of one page scenes. Each one is titled along the lines of Simon's Cat vs _________. Could be the garden, could be summer, could be BBQ, and so forth. These scenes besides showing the life and times of Simon and his cat, they also lay out the ups and downs of life with a new kitten. As we've gone through this experience twice recently, the kitten is extra funny to read.

ARC provided by LibraryThing Early ReviewsIf you haven't watched the Simon's Cat Videos on YouTube before, stop what you're doing right now and go watch them. Seriously go I'll wait. OK so you've watched them and liked them right (I mean how can you not)? Now that you know the basis for the collection you can fully appreciate the cuteness and the awesomeness of what's here. While this book doesn't have a continuous storyline, it does show the cats throughout the year as the seasons and holidays progress by. We get to see them in the summer creating war...err playing with the other animals in the backyard, which always seem to win, and doing the same in the winter time. My favorite...when they discover the birds on the HD TV. I mean how can you not love it? Many of the images you can look at and go "yep that's my cat there."While the videos are superior, this book is a great standalone collection and you'll get great enjoyment out of it. Even better is that there is an entire page of stickers to play with! Stickers!!! Also in the back of the book Simon teaches us how to draw some of the characters, such as the squirrel, as well as different types of cats, like a tabby cat, which is just cool! You can't help but to love this collection. So pick it up, take it home, and share it with your loved ones. You won't regret it.

This is more like a series of anecdotes than a complete story, with each page containing a single picture that is unrelated to the others. However, Tofield's art is eloquent and cat lovers and Simon's Cat fans can infer whole stories from many of the single drawings. While I prefer Tofield's books with a theme or storyline (such as Simon's Cat in Kitten Chaos) his art as adorable and amusing always.

My rating: 4 of 5 starsA copy of Simon's Cat vs. the World was provided to me by Akashic Books/Library Thing for review purposes.Simon's Cat began as a series of YouTube videos and quickly turned popular for their hilariousness and how accurate the depictions were of how cat's truly are. The first Simon's Cat video was uploaded over 5 years ago, on March 4, 2008. It's one of my all-time favorites. You can watch it here. While the books aren't nearly as hilarious as the videos, they are still entertaining and fun to flip through for a good laugh. Simon's Cat vs. the World are single page illustions detailing various encounters from visits to the Vet, holiday outifts, discovering the vividness of HD TV and even fireworks. In addition to that, there was also a short section in the back that details how to draw a few of the animals that feature in his books. And my favorite part? A whole page of adorable stickers. The best thing about these books is just how realistically the illustrations showcase the shenanigans of cats and what cat owner's constantly have to deal with. Simon's Cat is highly amusing and a source of good quick fun. Recommended for any cat lover and anyone who just enjoys a good laugh.

This is a cute little book, with full page spreads showing Simon's Cat getting into trouble, like teasing the hedgehogs to inviting his friends over for some TV time. This isn't as good as Kitten Trouble, but it is still a lot of fun to read.

I loved this charming book. It is full color and the details are what really make it shine. The round cheeks of a tomato worm chewing in the background of the garden, the expression on faces of the hedgehogs, and of course the wonderful expressions and activities of Simon's cat and kitten. Fans of the videos may fear that they won't enjoy this book, but I was not disappointed. The static medium draws one's attention to different things than the videos, but is no less delightful.Worth owning - a book that can be enjoyed by adults and by children.

I'm a fan of the Simon's Cat videos on YouTube, so I knew what I was getting here and the book does not disappoint. It's a cute one comic per page antics of the titular cat. There's no dialogue, so the humor is shown in median res. Sometimes I think the jokes would work better as the animation that it originated from, but I still got a good chuckle from the book overall.

I just received Simon's Cat vs. the World today through LibraryThing's Early Reviewers program. I was quite excited about receiving this book since I love the YouTube videos of Simon's Cat. Unfortunately, I was a bit disappointed since Simon's Cat vs. the World just didn't capture the adorable storytelling in the videos. This book doesn't actually have much of a story to it at all, it's just a series of scenes of Simon's Cat vs. (...Autumn...Kitten...Starlings, etc). Some of the scenes are cute and manage to fit a small story into them, but many of them don't actually make sense in the cat vs. world sense since Simon's Cat isn't actually facing off against the thing listed. Some of the scenes also stretch the bounds of imagination (bird's carrying pitchforks) which is all well and good in a cute storybook, but when that is the whole scene, it's just not that funny or cute.

The art is pretty and in full color, which is something we don't get in the videos, but it has a rather grungy style, that makes me think the vet's office and Simon's house are just all constantly dirty.

There is a tutorial at the end that teaches you how to draw Siamese cats, Persian cats, Tabby cats and squirrels. I have to assume that Simon's cat and kitten are included in a different book?

The biggest thing to know about this one is that you won't get a story, you'll get a few funny scenes, a few strange scenes and a few pretty scenes. As a cat owner, I feel like I should have been more entertained. But if you're looking for a quirky coffee table book, you might like this.

I've only seen the Simon videos on line, which are hilarious. This is a picture book, with each page picturing the portion of the world that is vs. Simon, such as camping, the mirror, the cat show, chickens, etc., through a whole week. Along with a few drawing lessons at the end. Delightful, humorous, a great addition to my collection of cat books.

What's not to love about Simon's Cat? The only thing this book is missing is the audio (and I do love the audio because our cat is beginning to sound suspiciously like Simon's Cat, which is a bit unnerving). My favorite may be Simon's Cat vs. HD TV simply because I love watching Watson do the same thing, but it's hard to pick a complete favorite. And there are stickers. If you love Simon's Cat, you'll want this.

Very cute and full color! I've loved all the Simon's Cat videos that I've seen and was excited to get this book from the Early Reviewer program. In this Simon's cat gets into all sorts of trouble with all manner of other characters. It certainly got a bunch of smiles and some chuckles out of me. This would be great for any fan of the Simon's Cat videos or anyone who just loves felines!!

Each page in the book is a full-page one-panel comic showing a day in the adventurous life of Simon's cat, through the cat's eyes. So if you're familiar with the other collections or the youtube videos, you'll find the whole cast of the garden menagerie is accounted for. I was pleasantly surprised to see that this collection was in full color, though I don't feel the style of coloring really added anything to the comics. I thought the collection was nice, but I didn't find it as cute or as charming as the previous volume, Kitten Chaos. The supporting cast of hedgehogs, rabbits, and birds didn't really show their quirkiness. It made me smile, but if I had seen this volume first, I don't think I would have understood what brings people back to his comics. It's an ok collection, but others in the series are much better.

Simon's Cat is always an adorable read. This volume consists of full-page cartoons, each one featuring a theme of 'Simon's Cat vs....' Versus the vet, the hornet's nest, tinned food, even chickens and magpies. The single-page cartoons make it a quick read, but they also allow the reader to really examine and enjoy the large cast of characters as they participate in or react to the mayhem Simon's Cat causes, as well as picking up on all the fun little details Tofield includes in the background, such as Simon's Cat putting up bunny ears behind the kitten in a framed wall photo. There's also a sheet of stickers included, as well as several pages of drawing instructions.

I first fell for this little white cat in the "Man Do" video on YouTube. Every little quirk comes through in the stills. The cat has such a huge personality and even without the sounds and movement, it comes across perfectly. As soon this book arrived, I had to go through and look at each page. Then, I had to go through again and really absorb each page. Every time you go back, there will be a tiny detail somewhere that escaped your eye before. I love Simon's Cat and look forward to more of his exploits.

I won this in LibraryThing's Early Reviewer's Program, and it's cute. It's got stickers and in the back there's a section where the author teaches you how to draw cats and whatnot in his style. There's not much to the book itself, as it's not a story so much as showing you Simon's cat in some kind of conflict with something else, and again, it's cute. If you're a fan of Simon's Cat videos on YouTube, you'll get a kick out of this, but it's not something that you really HAVE to get unless you got kids who'll want to flip through the book again and again. For adults, it's easy to flip through in the span of a few minutes.
