    A Dog's Life Diet - Ellen Tomy

    A Dog’s Life Diet

While homemade dog food diets reveal healthy results, underlying vitamin deficiencies can occur long term because of the low quality of food produced today due to depleted soils, chemical pesticides and preservatives.

The author of this book strongly recommends all diets for your dog be discussed with your veterinarian or veterinary nutritionist to determine which supplements are necessary, along with wellness checkups.

The information in this book is not intended to replace the advice of a trained medical professional.

    INTRODUCTION

If you have ever researched the feeding of dogs, you probably have found there is a great deal of conflicting information about what is good for them and what is not. My head was spinning from information overload. If you are seriously searching for solutions to your dog’s health and food, you will connect with this book.

While doctors of veterinary medicine are exceptionally knowledgeable about the care of animals, sadly many, like most medical doctors, do not receive significant training in nutrition, and thus, they do not focus specifically on the health benefits of natural whole food nutrition. As a result, they rely on the resource most widely available to them, commercial dog food, for a dog’s diet. But from my own experience, I believe many commercial dog foods are not always the best nutritional solution for your dog’s health.

A new atmosphere is being created in regard to what our dogs eat. More and more dog owners are turning to homemade food. You naturally care about your pet’s health and well-being, so you will have to use your own common sense and experience, with some research thrown in, to evaluate what is best to feed them. This is what I have done and would like to share with you. But please note, you should read and understand all of the information preceding the recipes before starting your dog on A Dog’s Life Diet. I have spoken with disappointed dog owners who have tried other homemade dog food diets without much success because of little guidance and unbalanced nutrients.

There are certain foods your dog should eat for better health and others that may not be the right choice for them; in some cases these foods may be harmful, even poisonous. In addition, there are necessary supplements. Unfortunately, because of the depletion of minerals and other important nutrients in our farm soils, we do not get the nutrients in our vegetables that we did fifty years ago. Supplements are discussed later in the book.

Each year people spend thousands of dollars on their pet’s skin diseases, allergies, cancer and arthritis only for a temporary fix. As soon as the medicine is taken away, the disease comes back... all because of a poor diet, which is a much less expensive problem to solve than taking medicines.

This book offers peace of mind for you and good health for
