Are you kidding? These are real, not make believe! suffer not a witch to live says the Bible. Stop messing with forces that will ruin your life. Stupidity. And bad to make it appear as if it's fun. Watch your life fall apart. Do some research before falling for such evil. On your own head be it. If possible I wouldn't leave any stars.

About this Book

In your hands you hold the Spell Book of Harry Potter, containing all of the spells that Harry Potter and other great wizards and witches of the Wizarding World have used in the Harry Potter series. This book contains all the spells, what the spells do, and how they are pronounced as well as special essays on magic. With this book I hope that you can learn great spells yourself and become a great wizard or witch like Harry Potter!

Magic in Harry Potter

Magic spells are used in the Wizarding World to achieve useful effects without the need of modern technology. To cast a spell, the wizard or witch usually makes a spoken or mental incantation whilst making a gesture with their wand. Students are usually able to cast spells only with spoken incantations but advanced witches and wizards are able to cast spells mentally. In this book are listed the spells with their incantations, listed alphabetically and by type of magic.

Types of Spells

Spells are phrases or words said by a witch or wizard that can create a magical effect especially when used with a wand.   Major types of magic include Charm, Jinx, Hex, Transfiguration and Curse are explained below:

Spell: This is term is used for all magical incantations.

Charms: Charms does not change the nature of an object but only its behaviour, for instance making a feather levitate but not turning it into a teapot.

Counterspells: These spells can be used to counter, remove or prevent the effects of other spells.

Curse: Curse magic is some of the worst and most dangerous forms of Dark Magic, causing major harmful effects. There are three Curses that are so terrible that they are known as the Unforgiveable Curses.

Fake Spells:   These spells may have been made-up by Gilderoy Lockhart.

Healing: These spells can be used to cure illnesses, restoring limbs and solving other medical problems.

Hexes: Hexes are a form of lesser Dark Magic, less dangerous than Curses but more dangerous than Jinxes.

Jinxes: Jinxes are the lesser-most type of Dark Magic used to amuse or irritate but not to harm another person.

Transfiguration: Transfiguration spells can be used to change one object into another such as a matchstick into a needle.

Spellcasting

Spells are bursts of magic that can be used by a witch or wizard for many different types of tasks from creating fire to opening locked doors. To cast a spell, the witch or wizard needs to speak an incantation, often a form of Latin whilst using their wands, though advanced witches and wizards are able to cast spells without wands when needed. Also, spells can be cast without spoken words and only mentally. It is evidently also possible to use a wand without holding it. Harry himself performs Lumos to light his wand when it is lying on the ground somewhere near him. Additionally, Animagi and Metamorphmagi do not need wands to undergo their transformations.
