    Hi! My name’s Gizmo. I’m the Puzzled Puppy. I have a blog which you can check out at puzzledpuppy.com.

    Course I’m just a puzzled puppy and I wrote the darn thing, but I think you should read this book. You may know a lot of the stuff in here but some might surprise you, too.

    In any case, you’ll find more facts and interesting ideas in this thing than in any ten stump speeches from most of the candidates that have run for President this year. If you wasted your time listening to them, you’ve got plenty of time to listen to me.

    Anyway, this book is small, so you can carry it around with you when you need ammunition to answer your crazy brother-in-law who supports Trump. Carry it around with you like you do your pocket Constitution. You know, the one The Donald hasn’t read?

    Also, some nails require a few extra hammer blows. And some knuckleheads need an extra knock, knock. So maybe you could donate a few copies to select individuals.

    I’m not Einstein or anything, but I’m pretty smart for a puppy. (And in many ways puppies are smarter than people anyway.) For example, I was speaking the King’s English when I was just a little guy. Actually, I’m still just a little guy, even though I’m big now!

    And I am aware of what’s happening in the world. So let’s just say I’m smarter than a bagel, which puts me ahead of the vast majority of politicians and pundits.

    And I have a Boss I respect and can talk to. He takes care of me. Calms me down when the stupid things people do start to drive me crazy. And sometimes I have to calm him down, too.

    As a puppy, I simply try to live a quiet, peaceful life, but sometimes it’s not easy. And when I think about how much more difficult it is for most of the other puppies and people in the world, first I get sad. I talk to the Boss about it and sometimes he makes me feel better. But sometimes he just can’t.

    Then, quite often, I get angry. And I’ve been known to wander beyond angry and get pissed off no end. Then I become a very grumpy dog. You’ll see some of that. Don’t let my ugly-cute face fool you.

    I see war, exploitation, racism, intolerance, and people and puppies just generally getting kicked and I notice that some of us are trying to help and others really don’t seem to care. You’ve got three groups: the kickers, the kickees, and ones that stay curled up all the time, even if there’s a fire in the house.

    You may accuse me of raging against things that are evil with words that are too strong. I would ask you to save your ire for the inequity.

    Donald Trump is a kicker. He’s not a grumpy dog – he’s a mad dog. Rabid, I’d say. And his supporters? I wish I could say they’re the ones that stay curled up all the time. But they’re not. They help with the kicking.

    But Donald Trump has been very successful. Why?

    Is there a reason for the success of Donald Trump that I just don’t see? That I just don’t get? How did he get to where he is? Is it possible that he could become President of the United States? Are you kidding me?

    Who are we? Why do we have such a large and powerful dark side? And why is it so easy for Donald Trump to appeal to it?

    So I’m a really puzzled puppy and I don’t have an answer. I just have a question: Am I missing something?

    What You Need to Know

    You’re probably not an active Donald Trump supporter or you wouldn’t be reading this book. Congratulations. There’s a chance that you are a sane, compassionate citizen who believes in peace and justice. Or maybe you just have an I.Q. more than half your shoe size, which is all it actually takes to abhor Trump. I assume the former.

    I need to be careful here. Some people are not Trump supporters as much as they are Citizens in Horror of Hillary. Though there’s no doubt that Hillary is light years better than The Donald, I understand their concerns.
