The organizer of Cuban revolution and the pioneer head of Cuba till 2008, Fidel Castro, was one of the outstanding Communist leaders in the world. From 1959 to 2008, he held the dominant administration powers making Cuba a one-party political state with wide nationalization of industries and social and health reforms. Castro and his forces led Guerrilla warfare against the Cuban dictator, Fulgencio Batista and became successful in 1958, making him as the new leader of the country. Transferring his responsibilities over to his brother and Vice President Raúl Castro, he formally retired from politics to an influential role.
