This message was sent from the Jacksonville District website. Message From: Mary Ann Lucking Email: maryann@coralations.org Response requested: Yes Message: Dear Army Corps Regulatory, Jacksonville Permits Section: We have been reviewing this document in response to community complaints regarding a 50m long pier impacting sea grass Federally listed as critical habitat for the listed green sea turtle (C. mydas), in waters further listed as critical habitat for corals (A.palmata and A.cervicornis) and the sea turtle (C. mydas.) In reviewing the documents, there are many inconsistencies including an environmental evaluation that indicates no sea grass present, when the study submitted clearly demonstrates there are. In addition to the pier, and associated impacts from boaters not well considered, this project is proposing a major shoreline construction of a 17 room, three story hotel, and pier over the water as part of a decked restaurant. We respectfully request that your staff investigate this immediately. Again, the 50m long pier has already been constructed. Documents are available at: http://www.scribd.com/doc/111029563/CZ-2010-1014-024-COMPLETE-FILE Sincerely waiting a response, Mary Ann Lucking Director CORALations 787-556-6234 maryann@coralations.org
