LESSON STRUCTURE:
Time 5 min Introduction (Set): Introduction Ancient Indian Palace part of Ancient India inquiry unit looking at Indian architecture and patterning from ancient times students to use photos and books as a source of ideas Main Content: task create an ancient Indian Palace first part - experiment with shapes, patterns and colour schemes - in their art books The goal is not to draw the whole palace but to experiment with ideas, shapes and patterns which may be included in the final design second part - pencil and line work to plan the structure of the palace - boarder and name around the A3 sheet build up shapes and architectural features (model on the board) third part - add in the detail fourth part - rub out the pencil lines so they don't show under the colour add colour (water colour blocks) and define and shadows with black crayon details with fine black pens and gold pens Teaching Approaches Introduce the topic to students
