Possible Facts that can go on your board

Positive: Recycling a single run of the Sunday New York Time would save 75,000 trees. Negative: To produce each weeks Sunday paper, 500,000 trees must be cut down. Negative: Americans use 2,500,000 plastic bottles every hour. Most of these are thrown away. Positive: Recycling plastic saves twice as much energy as burring it in an incinerator. Negative: The amount of wood and paper we throw away each year could heat 50 million homes for 20 years. Positive: in 1993, U.S. paper recovery saved more than 90,000,000 cubic yards of landfill space. Positive: Once a can is recycled, it can be a part of a new can in 6 weeks. Negative: We use over 80,000,000,000 pop cans a year. Negative: Every month we throw out enough glass bottles and jars to fill up a giant skyscraper. Positive: The energy saved from 1 recycling glass bottle can run a 100 watt light bulb for 4 hours! Facts: By 1924, 83% of American cities were separating some trash items to be reused. How to put the board together!

We used everything recyclable on the board. This included using old newspaper for the background instead of using banner paper. For letters we used old cardboard boxes (anything colorful will look good). We put all of the facts on cut up pieces of old shopping bags. These are just examples of what you can useanything that can be recycled can be used on this board. BUT! Do not use anything that has not been used before: it kind of defeats the purpose of a recycling informative board
