There are only 22 API Plans. If you consider API Plan 53 as 3 Plans i.e.

53A, 53 B and 53C, The Plans will become. 24.

Plans 01 to 41 are flushing plans. To remember these plans please look at the matrix. First Figure : 0 you are not required to do any thing. Odd figure- Cold liquid. Even figure- Hot liquid. 1 and 2 to clear liquid. 3 and 4 dirty liquid. Second figure: 1 Discharge to Seal 3 Seal to Now you can visualise and remember these plans easily 01 : Discharge to seal, internal circulation . You are not required to have flushing tubes. 02: Dead ended stuffing box. 11: Liquid is clear and cold. Therefore discharge to seal ) external tubing) 12: It is for slightly dirty liquid. Plan 11 Plus Strainer. 13: Liquid is clear and cold. Stuffing box to suction. 14: It is combination of 11 and 13 i.e. discharge to Seal and seal to suction. 21: Liquid is clear and hot. Discharge to seal through cooler. 22: It is for slightly dirty and hot liquid. Plan 21 plus strainer. 23: Seal to cooler through pumping ring and back to seal. 31 Liquid is dirty. Therefore discharge to seal through cyclone Separator. 32 Flushing from external source. (Remember as it is). 41 Liquid is dirty and hot therefore Discharge to seal through Cyclone Separator and cooler. Plans 51to 54 are Plans double wet seals. Plan 61,62 and 65 are for atmosphere side. Plan 61 is only vent and drain. 62 for quenching and 65 for leakage collection. Plan 71 to 76 are for outboard dry seal. You can co relate the wet and dry seal plans. 52 and 72 are for non pressurised fluid.
