December 26, 2012 To Whom It May Concern: It is my very great pleasure to write this letter of recommendation for Jamie

Randall. Jamie was my student in Spanish III and Spanish IV during her sophomore and junior years, and she was a delight to teach. She was an avid learner with a keen interest in language and a great attention to detail. Foreign language was not a subject that came easily to Jamie, but her desire to learn was so great that it sustained her. Jamie took full responsibility for her learning, and when something wasnt clear to her, she came backand kept coming backuntil she understood. In the end, I suspect her grasp of the language is better than for many who moved easily through because she wrestled with the details. She wasnt satisfied until she could explain the concept and apply it with full understanding. And her dedication has paid off; she has taken her language study all the way to the AP level and is doing well. This characteristic, which is so much a part of Jamies character, will be a key component of her success. Her passion and talent is singing, and if she approaches this field with the same focused determination that I witnessed in her language learning, then she will be a voice to be reckoned with. As a matter of fact, I discovered, as time went by, that language and singing had become closely tied together for Jamie. Although her goal in Spanish was to be fluent, she had another motive for language study. As her singing instruction continued, she was beginning to tackle songs in other languages. One of those songs, to her delight, and mine, was in Spanish. All that she had learned about the language suddenly had a practical applicationand a very important connection to her life. At the end of Spanish IV, she told me that she plans to study German and Italian in the future since many songs that shell sing will be written in those languages. Jamie is a delightful young woman full of optimism and enthusiasm. She radiates good will and kindness. She is confident in her abilities and dedicated to being the best that she can be. Jamie is a rising star, and I believe that one day her light will be dazzling. I have heard Jamie perform, and I was struck by the beauty of her voice, but also by the poise and the calm sense of confidence that radiated from her. The audience loved her, and it was easy to see why. I send Jamie to you with my highest recommendation and encourage you to give her your full support in her studies. She is a deserving young woman who will not disappoint you.

Sincerely,

Mim Heinrichs, Chair Department of World Languages Fayetteville High School Fayetteville, Arkansas 72701
