Résumé: Across the barricades
Chapitre 1
Sadie Jackson and Kevin McCoy are teenagers,
living in Belfast, in Ireland. One day they met
by chance and decided to go and have a cup of
coffee together. The problem is that Sadie is
Protestant and Kevin is Catholic and in that time
it was quite dangerous but they are a bit
reckless. Drinking their coffee, they chatted
about their jobs, their family, their childhood
fighting as enemies and after playing as friend...
and decided to go to Cave Hill, in the suburbs of
the town. At the bus stop they met Linda, one of
Sadie's friend her brother's girlfriend, who
recognized Kevin, that she had already met a
few years before, as a Catholic boy and
disapproved her friend and went back home in
order to spread the news. They finally take their
bus to Cave Hill.
Chapitre 2
At Sadie's home, her parents were eating dinner
with her brother Tommy when Linda popped up
and break the news of Sadie encounter with
Kevin to go and see a picture. Her announce had
the effect of a bomb: Mrs Jackson nearly had an
attack and Linda argued with Tommy because
he thought of Kevin's beautiful sister, Brede.
They finally went to the cinema and Linda was
angry with Sadie who led her in trouble.
Sadie Jackson et Kevin McCoy sont des
adolescents vivants à Belfast en Irlande. Un
jour, ils se sont rencontrés par hasard et ont
décidés d'aller boire une tasse de café ensemble.
Le problème c'est que Sadie est protestante et
Kevin catholique et à cette époque c'était plutôt
dangereux, mais ils sont un peu téméraires. En
buvant leur café, ils causèrent de leurs boulot,
leur familles, leur enfance se battant en ennemi
et ensuite jouant en amis... et décidèrent d'aller à
Cave Hill (Colline de la Grotte), dans les
faubourgs de la ville. À l'arrêt de bus, ils
rencontrent Linda, une amie de Sadie et la petite
amie de son frère, qui reconnaît Kevin, qu'elle
avait déjà rencontré quelques années auparavant,
comme un Protestant et désapprouva son amie et
retourna à sa maison pour répandre la nouvelle.
Il prennent finalement leur bus pour Cave Hill.
Chez Sadie, ses parents mangeaient, avec son
frère Tommy quand Linda fait irruption pour
annoncer la nouvelle de la rencontre de Sadie et
pour aller au cinéma avec Tommy. Son annonce
fit l'effet d'une bombe: Mrs Jackson en eu
presque une attaque et Linda se disputa avec
Tommy parce qu'il pensa à la jolie soeur de
Kévin, Brede. Ils allèrent finalement au cinéma
et Linda était fâchée contre Sadie qui lui avait
attiré des ennuis.
Chapitre 3
At Kevin's home, at the same time, Mrs McCoy
and Brede were doing the washing up and
wondering where Kevin was when uncle Albert,
Mr McCoy husband arrived. They saw Kevin's
younger brothers playing at war with fake home-
made weapons. It was worrying their mother and
sister but not their father and uncle who said it
was normal. The men left and went to the pub
and Brede also left and visited Kate, a friend of
her who was after Kevin and that was irritating
him. They heard some noise and went out: two
soldiers had arrived in the street and had been
hurt by stones threw by Brede's brothers. She
reprimanded them but Brian Rafferty, an old
friend of Kévin famous for his taste for fighting,
defended them and argued with her. At the end,
everybody went back home.
Suite au prochain épisode...
Chez Kévin, au même moment, Mrs McCoy et
Brede faisaient la vaisselle et se demandait où
état Kevin quand l'oncle Albert, le frère de Mr
McCoy arriva. Ils virent les jeunes frères de
Kevin jouant à la guerre avec des fausses armes
faites maison. Cela inquiétait leur mère et leur
soeur mais pas leur père et leur oncle qui
disaient que c'était normal. Les hommes
partirent au café et Brede rendre visite à Kate
une de ses amies qui état amoureuse de Kévin et
cela l'irritait. Elles entendirent du bruit et
sortirent: deux soldats étaient arrivés dans la rue
et avaient été blessés par des frères de Brede.
Elles les réprimanda mais Brian Rafferty, an
vieil ami de Kévin célèbre pour son goût pour la
bagarre, les défendit et se disputa avec elle. A la
fin tout le monde rentra à la maison.
