CULTURAL STUDIES 12/13 COURSE 1 ESSENTIAL UNIT 06 (E06)

(Ancient America) Unit Statement: This unit offers analysis of the geographic, political-economic, religious and social structures of early civilizations of South America and Meso-America. It traces the emergence and accomplishments of the civilizations on the Americas during ancient times. Empires that rose along with their Eurasian counterparts are recognized for megalithic architecture, agriculture advancements and cultural achievements in mathematics and science. Early American civilizations are known in a stricter historical sense. Western history is not rooted in Ancient America; thereby allowing for empirical distance. Archaeology and anthropological interpretations presents a picture of societies that ebbed and owed within geographic constraints and religious economic obligations. Additional research will be needed to explore how archaeologists helped recreate the past lifeways of the people. ESSENTIAL OUTCOME Friday, 1 February TSW discuss how archeology has helped recreate the lifeways of these early Americans. The Student Will describe all the qualities of the physical geography of the Americas. TSW analyze the method of slash and burn farming and describes its benets and detractions.
