This ten week course takes us on a journey through Beethoven's nine symphonies, arguably the greatest symphonic cycle in existence, in the hands of different leading Beethoven conductors from the last fifty years. We shall also explore the essence of many of the overtures written during this period. Do join us for this celebration of this mighty figure.

Ludwig van Beethoven, a portrait by Joseph Karl Steyer,1820. Theatre an der Wien, Vienna, Jakob Alt (1815), built by Emanuel Schikaneder in 1801, was the location for the premieres of Beethoven's Second, Third, Fifth and Sixth Symphonies, the Violin Concerto, his opera Fidelio, the Choral Fantasy and the Fourth Piano Concerto.
