As a Nevada State College graduate with a degree in Secondary Education concentrated in mathematics, I feel ready and excited to put my skills to use in our highly diverse district. I am applying for a secondary mathematics position and I believe my successful student teaching and substituting experiences have prepared me for this job. My student teaching experience took place in Sunrise Mountain High School, where I bonded with students to create a positive learning environment and learned to balance the everyday requirements of this career. Since the proficiency testing took place during my student teaching, I had the opportunity to tutor at the Mathematics Boot Camps and build a rapport with students all over the school. Due to the high diversity of our district, which is made up of 44% Hispanic students, I feel prepared to teach in such a culturally diverse area, since I am both Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) endorsed and fluent in Spanish. Prior to my student teaching, I got the opportunity to work as a Mathematics Assistant at Sunrise Mountain High School where I improved my multitasking and organizational skills. As an energetic and fully committed individual, I keep striving to improve whenever the opportunity arises. I look forward to further discussing my skills and credentials with you.
